I don't use a tube without a rattle; that is how much difference I think it makes

A:
It all depends on water color and time of year. But a good all round color is pumpkin, watermelon or any green color. If you catch a fish and he spits out a crawdad-look at the color of craw and use that color. Rattle does get me more bites or you can put a colored bead between weight and hook if you are rigging texas style or carolina rig.

Kevin Van Dam fishes his signature series tubes on Strike King's tube jigs and changes weights depending on the fall rate he wants and the cover he's fishing.

I've seen people fishing with tubes and they caught TONS of bass. I wanna know how you rig em. i own a pack of zoom tubes, but i have no idea what hooks i should use, what weight(if necessary)i should use, and how to fish it.

If you have an answer, PLEASE RESPOND!

Thanks,

First of all, I love these 3.5" tubes...and use them a lot...they've accounted for a lot of really nice fish over the years.

I texas rig them with a Mustad MegaLite EWG in either 3/0 or 4/0 size. the key being to insert the point into the head and back out...just like setting up a 'worm'...and then when putting the point back 'in'...be sure to run it through both tube walls...and then lay the hook point along the outside and 'skin hook' the point...

Don't be bashful about using some additional scent...craw or shad, depending on what the bass are keying on can make a difference.

My one complaint: I believe Strike King quality assurrance isn't the best...the 'better' tubes are the fatter ones...and tube thickness can vary from package to package...

It's an over-looked, highly effective bait.

Basic worm rigging and tube rigging starter stuff. Get some 1/8 ounce and 1/4 ounce tubehead jigs with 3/0 and 4/0 hooks as well as 1/8 ounce and 1/4 ounce bullet sinkers and some Gamakatsu worm hooks in 3/0 and 4/0. All that should be 20 to 30 bucks for quality stuff. If you wanna land lunkers you need quality terminal gear.
