A:
They are average like any other 1/4-3/8oz jig shank length. The Bass Pro Darter head shanks are about a 1/4" longer then these.

A:
The shanks aren't very long at all. I normally use them on 4" Power Worms or Power Craws. I prefer the 1/8 oz Darter Heads. The hooks are really sharp which is what I like about them. For a little deeper fishing I use the 1/4 oz Darter Heads and I like twitching the soft baits just on top of the weeds or through laydowns or just on top of the rocks. Since you're from White Bear Lake (I was born and raised in Wisconsin), I imagine you fish for walleye, bass, maybe panfish, pike or even musky. These darter heads are good for walleye, bass, and panfish. Sometimes the bass or panfish will hit short when using worms or craws, but the walleye usually gobbles the whole thing. I don't think I'd use these darter heads on anything longer than 6", but this is just my opinion and you can take that for what it's worth.

A:
I use the 1/8 oz heads most of the time but if I'm fishing deeper water or I'm using a baitcaster reel, or I'm using a little bit bigger plastic bait, I sometimes use a 1/4 oz jig head.

A:
I'm not sure Dave, but I think they're mainly a finesse-type jig rig and while a heavier type head may work in deeper water or during the winter months in deep open water, I imagine the demand for the heavier jigs isn't there for the company.

A:
Because darter heads are meant to be a finesse tactic. They're not really meant to use as heads on swimbaits and such.
