There is only 1 per package and fishing in North Carolina on Jordan, High Rock, Falls, and Shearon Harris, I have had great success early in the morning on a Chrome Colored Skitter Pop.

As with almost all of Rapala products, this comes one to a package. This will work in any type of water provided you use the right color. Each color is dependent on the water clarity, forage, weather, and hatch. First, what color is the shad in your area? Match that hatch. Next, if the water is really clear, it means you need something that is a little more subtle (something that has too much flash will spook the fish). For the most part, I use a silver flashy one unless the water is really clear. You can match bluegill (if they are in your waters), Pumpkinseeds, Perch, Shad (silver/black), or any number of colors. My best bet for clear water would be something like a bluegill or pumpkinseed color. They are subtle and less flash. The other issue is that if the water is really clear and calm, the presentation becomes a lot more difficult. You will need to make notes on what is working with this one. In stained or murky waters, this is a great product. It also is used well in very early morning calm waters when the sun is just rising. Hope this helps.Q:

I tend to lean towards the smaller lures, especcially with topwaters. I fish in the upper midwest (illinois/wisconsin/michigan) though, so it may be worth trying something bigger down south. The reason I go with the smaller ones is because it does not discriminate against smaller fish, and the big ones will still hit it. This way, I just find myself catching more fish overall. When I say small, by the way, I mean like 1/4 oz. Nothing too tiny.

Simply put, larger bait does catch larger fish. However, I caught a small crappie with the newer Heddon Spooks. I used to think small but now, I go with a larger bait and I still catch a good amount but catch larger sizes. Not only that, you can cast the larger bait further meaning more area to coverDetails:

I don't have problems with the new Skitter Pop ties. Most of the time I am using the 1/2 oz size of Skitter Pop which can be hard to find these days, but if you see the big ones load up on them. At least the bass in Michigan love the big 1/2 oz size. I even catch a lot of bass on the 1 7/8 oz Saltwater Skitter Pop.Images for this Answer

In my opinion the Rapala Skitter Pop is way tougher. I am primarily a Smallmouth Bass fisherman and I fish constantly. I fish Lake Ontario and there are plenty of rocks, trees, docks and other debris near the shore and offshore for lures to bounce off of. I have used the Skitter Pops for years and found them to be the toughest top water plug out there. They hold there paint jobs well, and can stand up to the abuse that even the Northern Pike and their teeth can dish out.A:

You want the Rapala Skitter Pop. It will catch you a lot more bass then any other popper. Fishing is what I do, and I have tried all kinds of lures. What I have found is when you get a lure that out does others of the same type, keep buying the good one. To me, it's worth spending a little more for a great lure because I fish all the time. If you have a limited amount to spend on fishing, spend it on quality lures like Rapala and you will catch more fish.Answers

No. That would be a pretty hard title to claim for any lure. The best topwater lure is the one that is working best for you in a given situation. It is one of my favorites but there are others that I like to use equally as much.

Yes, it is I have had a lot of success on this bait. It is better then most other poppers because of the way the mouth is formed. If you look at it it has that plastic mouth to make it look bigger and with that it makes it chuck more water. I have had a lot of experience with this bait and I found that the more the water is chucked the more the fish react to it.Hope what I have told you helps and its a great day for fishing!

read the back of the rap box it comes it the best way to fish this is a wounded minnow action i recommend pulling your rod back a few times to "twitch or jerk" the bait rather then reeling it, i absolutly love this lure!A:
pop it 5 small pops and then pause for 5 secondsA:
Cast it out and take up the slack without moving the lure. Wait around 30 seconds or so and then start your retrieve by giving short little twitches that will produce a gurgling sound at the lure. Then stop. The do it again. You'll know by the sound if you're doing it right! Look on YouTube as well. There's great clips on how to fish this lure!

It can actually depend: If the fish are really active or on overcast and rainy( not poring rain but lighter rain) this bait is best fished with 3 pops with a one second pause and then again till you get to the boat or the shore the bass, pike, muskie or whatever you are fishing for will( if its there) want to hammer that bait.Hope what I told you helps and its a great day for fishing!

depends how the fish are striking. if there blowing up on the bait, splashing up out of the water, then you fish it fast. let it sit a second, then jerk the bait a good 8 to 10 times, let it sit another second, then jerk it another ten times, keep the bait moving.if there sucking the bait down, just coming up underneath it and just opening there mouths, then the fish are pressured, so fish the bait slow. let it sit 8 to 10 seconds, then jerk the bait 1 to 2 times let it sit 10 more seconds, and repeath the process.
another way to tell if there pressured or not, is by looking at the hook in which they were caught. if there mouth is hooked with both treble hooks, there less pressured. if there only hooked by the back treble hook, there under lots more pressure, and are reluctant to hit the bait

Two ways I fish it are: 3 jerks then a pause & 1 jerk then pause. You can also vary how long you pause the Rapala Skitter Pop. The pause is very important and usually when you get most hits.Answers

The chrome works well in the evening when the Shad are top feeding. Throw the chrome right into the middle of where the school of shad are at and you will land a quality bucketmouth everytime.

I have had great success with just about any colour. With 1/2 of the lure above the waterline I'm not so sure that colour comes into play as much as with other lures. I could be wrong but that is what I have found.I have had success with the Fire Tiger, Shad, and Silver. They all have the same action, which is what is really attracting the fish!
