I use it as my primary line when fishing the Florida keys. After trying several different lines, I have always come back to Excel mono as my first choice, not because of price, but performance, as line would be a terrible thing to try and save money on.

If you are comparing it to other more expensive line I think you will be satisfied with the performance that you will get as I have been.

A:
I buy enough line at a given time to be used in a 2 year period. I note the date of purchase on each spool I get and attempt to use it all in that timeframe. Mono does seem to generate line memory as it ages and I have been told becomes more brittle as well. Neither, good characteristics for hooking and landing fish!

I have also used Excel for many years. I use pretty much all line sizes for various applications from 6lb to 25lb test . I have never had a problem with any of those issues.I will continue to use excel in the future.

When I purchase EXCEL (1500 yd spools) I mark the month/year on the inside of the flap. This way I know when I purchased it. I found some 4lb in the garage and used it last week. I couldn't tell it from the line I purchased last month. Keep it dry and out of the sun and you won't have a problem.

As long as you purchase the line that has
New Formula on the box you should be OK.
If it doesn't say that, from my experience stay away from it.

Have not used this product as of today. Reason is I had just replaced all the line on my reels prior to receiving this line. I will be replacing two reels in the near future and will send you my feelings on the line if it's still possible to do so.
