No, the rod does not come with any line. I recommend using Mr. Crappie line with this if you plan to use it for panfish or trout.

"up to" is the key .... an Ultralight set-up is typically not the right one if you approach a 10 pound bass ..... you'll really have your skill tested if you do hook one with this!!!

Not sure about a 10lbs fish. I probably wouldn't be using this rod/reel combo for 10 lbs bass fishing. I use this rod for trout only. I was throwing small jig heads (1/32 oz & 1/16 oz.) no problem. I threw some inline spinners absolutely fine too. Depending on the weight of your lure obviously, but you could get it out 15 - 25 feet no problem.

One piece rod. Total weight was pretty close. I have 4lbs. test camo line on there. Not sure on actual numbers but it's pretty darn light.

1 piece. Total weight would determine on which reel you buy with the setup. I have the 5 oz reel and the rod is very light and comfortable.

A:
For average fishing, yes. It you are throwing large baits--no. Any weight over 1/8 of an ounce--the rod is not made for that.

I pulled in a few trout this year on it. My cousin pulled in a nice 18" brook trout weighing a good 2 plus pounds. All around panfish/trout fishing yes. Not sure if I'd choose this reel/rod combo for bass fishing. I think with the combo of light weight, feel, and flex, this is a great little rod for those sweet honey holes and river/stream fishing.

I have used this combo for a while now with no troubles. After each use I do clean and lube my gear so I'm sure that makes a difference. Probably not a good all around combo. I would suggest for the money the Abu Garcia Cardinal 100 med sized reel with a 6' rod for a good all around spinning setup.

A:
It all depends on what you consider all around. It's an ultra-light combo, so catching a heavier, harder fighting fish will be quite a challenge. This rod is meant for smaller trout and panfish. You hook a good size bass or any other type of game fish and you're in for a ride. You have to be careful with ultra light rods because if you put too much strain on them, regardless of brand, they will break. If you're going after small trout or pan fish, look no further. BPS makes some excellent products and you can expect quality from this set up.

I would say that I put my gear through a fair amount of abuse and I would say that these are pretty durable combo. As for an all-around combo, you can use this for largemouths but I like something a little stiffer.
