A:
The Vari-Max is a good motor. I purcheased the 55lb. thrust for my 16ft. For 19-20ft range I would go to a higher thrust.

A:
you can run the 50lb thrust but will be using the higher speeds most of the day in windy conditions. This will also limit the battery life for each use. If the boat is a 19ft center console I would go with the 75lb thrust.

depends on how much water current you are in. if just out on a lake,it will work great.i've had one on a 25ft pontoon with no problems unless i was out in saltwater with the tide changing

There are no photos of the foot. How is it different than the foot of the other GW saltwater series, if any? Same materials and coatings? Please advise. Thanks.

A:
From a coating perspective, the VariMAX SW is very similar to all other MotorGuide SW motors. There is a special coating and painting process used for corrosion protection. There is also a large sacrificial anode on the column, just above the Lower Unit for maximum protection. The columns are also made of Stainless Steel.
