A:
yes, it does have a levelwind (line guide). You can clearly see it in the picture. Unless your fishing for some really big ocean fish, you would wish you had a levelwind. It distributes the line evenly on the spool when you reel in and If you didnt have one, you would have to do it manually.

I have it mounted on the same rod and it performs great with spinner baits, I do alot of shallow river fishing with the same size spinner baits and smaller.

therefore it would be a great choice.

hope this helps

I think their too light weight for it, you might not get very good casting distance, but also depends on the type of line you would use

I think you have to push in on the handles center and turn backwards. I would contact Pflueger at pure fishing to be sure. You do not want to damage that beautiful reel.

A:
Tighten the drag all the way down and then hold the reel with both hands with the drag up. Put two fingers on either side of the handle so you can pull down hard on the drag. It will pop and you can then remove the handle.

in answer to my own question, just got back from canada - used this reel with the wide spool (WLP) with 50# braid. had 4 large muskies - 38" and 40". this reel handled all with no problem. after 7 days of throwing the heavy muskie baits i am more impressed with this reel. the distance is amazing, and more incredible, not ONE backlash. reel is well worth the price.

this reel will handle any fish you want. the drag being 10 lbs of pressure you will have to be patient with the fish but it will get the job done. i have caught striper with it and all it took was setting the drag to the right spot. no other problems.

Remove the side panel via online instructions to set the internal break lighter, I think it comes set at 4 of 6.

You'll be casting a great distance in no time after this adjustment.

A:
Remove the left side plate (if it is a RH reel) by loosening the thumb screw on the right side of the reel and then turning the left side plate backwards. The side plate will then come off and you can adjust the brake shoes. It comes from the factory with 4 brakes activated. I had to lock two more of the brakes in the off position (slide the brake shoe toward the center of the spool until it clicks). It casts great now.

Try adjusting your magnetics, less magnetics for further casts and more for more accurate, tight casts, remember to adjust the magnetics on the reel itself and the knob next to the handle of the reel...loosen it for less, tighten for more....etc

Yes. The wide spool is designated a WLP, and the narrow spool is a LP, just like the President designators.

Yes, it is available in a wide-spool version. Look for "WLP" in the model number in place of the "LP" on the standard models.

My local BPS had them in stock when I bought mine. I don't know why they're not listed in the site.
