''Modifying the bait gives it more of a rolling action instead of a thumping feel. It comes into the strike zone more quietly and allows fish to react to it. It doesn't alarm them as much.'' Tim Horton 9-Time Bassmaster Classic® Qualifier
It’s easy to see why this crank helped Tim win the 2007 Champion’s Choice Elite event—it’s action is so smooth! That day the fish were actively feeding on rock pile and Tim needed a subtle approach, not the reaction strike, and this bait proved to be the ticket. To further improve the design we incorporated a rattle you can turn on and off by locking the ball bearings in a chamber by simply rotating the crank until they’re secure. It’s very easy to do on the fly and adds a lot of versatility to your approach. The finish of these baits are also special, featuring colors based off of Tim Hughes’ original designs. Put all this together and you have super-refined improvements to an already awesome design, and as Tim has shown, this bait is a closer so you’d better stock up now!
THESE LURES HAVE A DIFFERENT DEPTHS. THE DEPTHS ARE LISTED IN THE PRO BASS MASTERS CATALOG. YOU CAN MAHE THEM DIVE DEEPER WITH SMALLER SIZE LINES OR BY ADDING WEIGHTS TO THE LURE. BASS PRO HAVE A STICK ON WEIGHT THAT I HAVE FOUND EVRY USEFUL. JUST STICK IT ON THE LURE. YOU HAVE TO TRY IT A FEW TIMES UNTIL YOU ARE SATIFIED WITH THE DEPTHS
Lots of factors.Length of cast.Diameter of line.Type of line.Water density. But on 12 lb mono with 5 to 1 reel and medium action 7 ft cara rod.I make long cast and reach the advertised depth all the time.I hit bottom when I am working it in the selected depth.
Question about the Tim Horton switchback crankbait in the 4' - 8' diver. Can I order this model in the pearl white color that other Bomber crankbaits ore offered in?
Bill is already shaved.... the bait works great right out of the box except for the rattle... that rattle is a pain.... the good part is... the bait catches fish rattle or not.
Last year Tim was modifying a Bomber Fat Free Shad by slightly shaving the bill to make it more subtle. This is the bait that was born out of that modification.
The rattle is kind of a pain.... I had to tap mine on the boat a few times before it would start to rattle and then after a few casts the rattle quit again... not the greatest rattle but the bait sure catches fish
The rattle takes some practice to get the hang of but once you do it is a breeze. First thing you need to do whether you want them off or on is hold the lure belly up. Then give the lure a tap until you here that it is free. Then to lock rotate the bill clockwise (think of the bill as a minute hand on a clock) to lock or counter clockwise to unlock. Give it a try because it is worth it to have a lure you can make silent when you want to.
