Okuma’s Catalina Line Counter Reels are built to handle the harshest elements and boast some of the most technologically advanced features available today. Catalina Line Counters are constructed from A6061-T6 extruded aluminum with reinforcing stainless steel sideplates, along with a machined aluminum, gold anodized spool for ultimate strength and durability. The stainless steel, titanium coated Wide Mouth Levelwind is built to withstand the punishment of braided and wire lines, and the guide opening is large enough to allow Albright or similar connection knots and swivels to pass through with ease to be wound directly on the spool. The Catalina Reels also feature a Mechanical Stabilizing System (MSS) which ties the spool shaft, pinion gear, pinion gear bearing, drive shaft and main gear together with a single support system. This patented MSS system eliminates flex to allow these critical components to stay in precise alignment, while holding-up to the stress braided and wire line create. Another tremendous feature the Catalina offers is Okuma’s revolutionary Tension Spool Control (TSC) technology. TSC is a small secondary drag system designed to put tension on the spool while letting line out to allow for hands-free drops and eliminating the need to thumb the spool while trolling. The Catalina Reels also boast the Strike Zone line counter system which incorporates a mechanical counter that precisely measures line based on spool revolutions. These counters measure in feet and are calibrated at the factory to be most accurate with a full spool and monofilament lines.
