I use 12 Original Stren Clear Blue Fluorescent and it is a great all around line for pan fish, walleye, bass, rainbow trout, and channel cats.

A:
It depends on a couple factors: size of the reel, type of lures you are going to work, and structure you are going to fish. 8 lb. test is a good all around weight. I would go with Sufix Elite 8lb. clear. Some of the better brands line diameters run smaller than the cheaper brands.

Depending on the particular model, you can use a variety of sizes. If wanting to use the reel for more finessse styles of fishing, an 8 or 10 pound test line may work best on this reel.

Mitchell Reels are good reels but I like the Garcia Reels. I have not had any problems at all. Mitchell Reels are usually higher in price and the Garcia Reels will do the same job.

A:
Make sure you use a good reel oil. Bass Pro Shop sells it. You can take the line spool off and drop 1 or 2 drops down by the shaft. Use "Reel Magic" on your spool of line and up and down the rod. Check the owner's manual for other areas to oil.

Untwist the front reel drag knob until it comes off. Take the spool off of the reel. Use some reel oil and place a drop or two of oil on all moving parts. Wipe excess oil and clean out any dirt. Replace the spool, put the drag knob back on, then adjust the drag knob. You're ready to go fishing!

Start buy taking the spool off and adding one drop of oil to where the spool shaft meets the reel body, then take the handle off and add on drop to handle casing on each side. DO NOT OVER OIL, you will do more harm then good.

I am a big time fisherman and use these reels for all my spinning gear. I have owned them for 3 years and with the maintenance they work just as good as day one

the reel will fit on any spinning rod you have. Watch the balancing of the reel/rod though. On my 7 footers i did have to add some weight to the butt end. The reel, to me, feels lighter then it is.
