Split handles with P-Tec poly-foam grips (and virtually no foregrip) keep weight low and blank contact high; our two-piece Soft Touch reel seat is light, comfortable, and bridgeless, exposing significantly more blank area to direct hand contact. All in all, you'll love the feel and handling of this revolutionary rod, guaranteed. And with every model available for far less than high-end rods--you'll love the price too!

7' MH is a perfect all purpose rod for just about anything. If you only buy one or 2 rods i would recommend 7' MH. I throw spinnerbaits and spooks with mine.

Carolina Rig, draggingTexas Rigged plastics, spinnerbaits.... This is a very versatile length and action. If you are using something with a larger hook, this rod will probably perform pretty well for you. I have several 7' Medium Heavy rods myself.

I'm on my second season with mine and just purchased another at my last trip to BPS. The rods are very durable, extremely sensitive and LIGHT. There are a few rods as light or lighter but only one being in the same price range, those being the "orange" ones. After all the horror story reviews about snapping on hooksets, I'd say the Carbon lights are the way to go

The rod states that it is rated for baits up to 2 ounces, but ive thrown heavier baits on rods that stated they were only rated for 2 ounces as well, so I was wondering if this rod was capable of handling that type of load. The heaviest bait I would use with the rod would be the 9 inch 3.4 oz Lunker Punker.

Yes you can use this rod for that bait . If you plan on casting heavy baits like that mostly with the rod then I would suggest going with a G Loomis or custom rod that is rated for that weight but if the rod is being used mostly with baits that are in the 1-2oz. range then this rod is a good choice except for one thing . These are decent rods but I don't use one in the heavier powers because the eyes I dont feel will hold up to the abuse of the heavier baits and espeicially if using for flipping or pitching . If you want to look only in this price range then I would suggest the Bass Pro Extreme rod for durability in a heavy rod . I have a 4 year old 7'6" that is beat up bad and is still slaying those big pigs all day long. I bought the new 7'10" extreme rod for my bigger swim baits and really have been happy with it . I have two more expensive heavy rods but in this price range the Extreme rod really gives my two G Loomis swimbait rods a run for the money . To be sure the Loomis rods are a lot lighter and a little more sensitive but not by much and the extreme rods have more power than the loomis rods by far . Good luck and hope that helps you out in some way .

I have been buying fishing rods for years, and I have always gone by lightmedium/heavy etc. to measure the action of a rod. Now I am seeing a new catagory of Moderate/fast/x-fast? What does this mean in respect to how the rod feels?
I have been fishing spinnerbaits mostly on 7' medium action Bionic Blades for several years with great success. Now buying a new "carbonlite" and not sure what I am looking at.

The tip.. mod is slow good for crank baits
xf is extra fast like for shakey heads.
The 7 foot med with fast action is good for spinnerbaits..

If you GENTLY hold your rod up to the ceiling and GENTLY put pressure on it you will notice the following:
X-Fast will bend closest to the tip,
Fast will bend just a little bit further from the tip,
Moderate will start the bend in the middle of the rod.
XFast & Fast for a quick sharp hookset.
Moderate for crankbaits as the "give" will keep hooks from ripping out when the fish surges.

Basically the mod/fast/x fast tells you how the tip of the rod will react. an x fast tip wont flex nearly as much as a moderate one will. The fast tip gives you a more accurate cast and presentation while the moderate tip gives you a softer feel for say crankbait fishing. In the end it is about how it feels to you, For spinnerbaits I use a MH fast action rod because I like to pop the spinnerbait allot.

A:
moderate-fast would be in between moderate and fast actions. MF would require less weight to bend the rod and flex more than F but be stiffer than M. This action varies between brands and composition material (even between the same material and how the blank is wrapped). The higher IM the graphite is, the more sensitive, stiffer, and lighter the rod will be but it will also be more brittle. MF rods will taper about 30% down from the tip. XF won't really taper much at all, just at the tip. The softer/slower (more taper) rods are good for cranks b/c it gives time for the fish to swallow your lure and provides a bit of a stretch so you don't set the hook too hard and tear through the lips. The harder/faster actions or rods give you more feel on what your lure is doing and of course more hooking power.

Your 7 M Bionic works for spinnerbaits but I recommend a 7 Medium Heavy Moderate Fast for SB, especially if you want to dive those suckers a bit deeper. You can use 6'6" - 7'. Longer the rod, the further casting distance you will get and more leverage on the fish when battling. Some say longer is more sensitive as well (particularly with micro rods since the line has more points of contacts with the guides) but i doubt it will be significant unless you're talking a foot or extra rod.

Use your Bionic for castbaits and get a 7 MH MF for spinner.

I grew up a walleye guy, looking to get more into bass. I currently fish a 7' ML st croix spinner and a johnny morris 6'8" M spinner. Looking for a versitle casting rod. Something that is acceptible for all types of presentations, as im still learning them.(senkos, tubes, cranks, top water, spining, drop shot, etc) I'm thinking this carbon lite setup in 7' MH-Fast? I'm hoping that would expand my rod selection enough to handle most situations. Thanks for any suggestions.

Yes you would be right. Most people say the 6'6" MH Fast action rod is the all around rod for bass fishing it will get every job done. I don't think the extra length of a 7' is going to hurt you at all. You'll be able to cast farther and fight the fish much easier, especially smallmouth who are the best pound for pound fight in freshwater in my opinion.

The 7' MH would be a good rod for most presentations(senkos, tubes, top water, drop shoy), thought the 7'M with Moderate action would be a better rod for crankbaits. You want a rod with a softer tip when fishing for bass with crankbaits.

Yes, the micro guide rods are on sale BUT DO NOT PURCHASE MICRO GUIDE CARBON LITES - GO WITH THE REGULAR GUIDES. MICRO GUIDES ARE SHREDDING LINE. Bass Pro Mgr. stated that there have been a lot of returns, problems with shredding and that they are being discontinued.
