I know the new website doesn't show the reel size. So I guess you have to know the spool capacity of the 2500 and the 3000.

A:
The 3000 has a bigger handle on it and it has a bigger spool for more fishing line. No there is no 2200 series. 1000 Series 2500 series and then 3000 Series and 4000 Series being the biggest.

I would go with the Shimano Cumara or the St Croix Legends Tournament rod which I have. Shimano makes a lighter Rod than that but its like 400.00. There are a lot of other companys that make light rods. You just have to experiment with them. To me St Croix seems to be the strongest.

I would have gone for the 2500 for bass. The 1000 will do, but is kind of small and won't hold much line above 6lb test. That said, I beleive you can't beat a shimano compre for the value and a 6'6" ML is the perfect match for that reel.

I think 30 LBS is to much I would go with 15 or 20 LBS Power Pro Braid. 15 LBS preferably. Better for casting long distances.

A:
My 3000 says it holds 110 yards of 40 lb. PowerPro and 145 yards of 20 lb., so it should fit about 127 yards of 30 lb. It really depends on the type of fishing you'll be doing. For bass fishing you'll be good with 127 yards.

Yes - works great. The 3000 has a 40 lb max braid at 110 yards. Power Pro is a good choice and is the standard for reel comparisons.

line always depends on what your going for. which is directly proportional to the size of the rod and reel combo. but with what you got i would say your goin for big boys, try 17lb berkley xt if your going for anything bigger than 20 lbs i would go with the 25 lb test

A:
I have two BPS Carbonlite MH rods. I love them. They seem to have good back bone. I bank fish all the time and besides pulling in lots of 2-3lb catfish, the biggest catfish I pulled in was 11.1 pounds. That rod and my Stradic 3000 held up great! Based on that I would recommend the BPS Carbonlite MH rod.

I like the 3000 better it has a bigger handle and more line capacity than the 2500. Your only talking about .2 Grams difference. You wont even feel that. The Stradic CI4 3000 seems smoother to me than the 2500. Thats my opinion.

My motto with fishing is when in doubt, go smaller. Personally I would go with the 2500, especially if you'll be trout fishing with it. I own the 1000, 2500, 3000 and 4000. I use the 1000 for trout fishing and the 2500 and 3000 for bass fishing.

The 1000 FML is for micro lines. Saying light braids, like 4 pound power pro. And it has a special drag system for the braided line. The 1000 F is just a reel that allows mono, fluoro, and braid.

ML means micro line. It's designed for use with light braid like powerpro or suffix. It actually has a different drag system to allow for the no stretch (little more forgiving). I would imagine that it would be a saweeet reel for ice fishing!!! I have many Ci4s but not this one.
