Different rod, I love the Carbonlites, but for your type of fishing I think a tough Ugly Stick is a vvery good choice. If you wnat greater sensitivity, but don't want to break into tears when you break your pole, look at the Berkley Cherrywoods.Bang for the buck they are hard to beat.
If you really want a good rod, Shimano is backing their poles no questions asked, for now, but the warranty reads you break it you don't get a replacement, so if too many folks are breaking rods, they may revert to their written policy at any time. The Shimano Compre would be a very good rod. It’s all about trade-offs and how much you want to gamble. If we know Shimano was going to continue their current no quibble warranty policy indefinitely, the Compre would be the hands down choice, but that is a gamble, as their written warranty covers only quality and workman’s ship, and not closing trunk lids on them, etc.
As for line, you are going to be in abrasion heaven,so I’d go carbon fiber. Either the BPS Carbon Gold or P-Lines carbon line. The Carboblite reel can go as low as 8 lb test, but I think I’d go 10 in your application. Light line is good to be sure, but heavier line is more abrasion resistant, and the low visibility of carbon line in water should off set any larger line size issues, IME.
