I am planning to pair the 6600 model up with a 6'6 medium action rod. I was wondering if that would be ok or if i should go with the 5600 model.Answers

I have the 5600BCX paired with a 6'6" UglyStik med. action rod and the balance is great, very easy to use setup, but I also have a Ambassadeur 6600C4 on a 7'3" Abu Garcia Veritas medium/heavy rod and it feels great. Being that the 6600 is slightly larger, in my opinion it would be more suited and on a 7'-7'6" medium-medium/heavy rod. But it all comes down to the type of fishing you're doing and the setup that feels right to you.Details:

Yes but I think it can handle more than that. The reel is very strong.

I do not see why you would not be able to use for Porgy Fishing. Just remeber when using a conventional reel (not a spinning reel), keep your thumb on the spool to avoid tangles as you let your line to the bottom.Details:

15# test line would be okay on the 5601 BCX. Only drawback would be it won't hold as much line as a it would a smaller line. Will work well for you though.Details:

Whichever hand you crank is what it is. If you crank with your right hand, it is right handed.A:

If you are using a spinning reel, it is left handed. If you are using a baitcaster, it is right handed. Oddly, it's because of the spinning reel (right handed) that caused me to get a left handed baitcaster.Answers

5600 would be fine. that's the exact same set up i use for cats, and i love it. you get more line capacity with the 6600, but i don't think it's a big deal.A:
Either reel would work well on the rod. It basically is a personal preference choice. If you want a reel with a bait alert, and are making long cast with heavier line , you would want the 6600.If you are mainly fishing smaller waters and dont need to make those long cast the 5600 will perform nicely.

This really depends on the braided line manufacturer and how thick they make the line. Look at the diameter and compare to the line of the 14 lb test you are using. For instance, Stren braid 8lb test has a diameter equivalent of a 1lb test monofilament (Also Stren). Basically, check your manufacturer for the reel and see what it says for how much it holds (in diameter) and use that basic diameter for your reference.Answers
