no metal shelf
I believe you would have no trouble with the elk quarters because lots of places for straps to attach

You could adapt the carry straps to fit a bow. It also comes with 8 straps to use with the frame when hauling out an animal. thye could be used to configure something

A:
It has multiple straps on the outside that would probably hold a bow very secure.

A:
There are straps but whatever you mount would be hitting the back of your knees as you walk. There are straps up the center of the pack that I used for mounting my sleeping pad. The pack is large enough to allow the sleeping bag to go inside and the pad and tent to be mounted vertically on the pack

yes, there are some loops that you could use. It's not a super big pack, but if you are carefull, you could make an overnight trip with it.

A:
No. I packed it into the mountains in a rainstorm. I purchased an aftermarket rain cover and any areas not covered were soaked through when I finally made camp. Make sure you use some means of waterproofing whatever you put in the pack. I used trash bags and they worked great. Kept everything separate and dry

The term 100% makes this answer a definite no however, I have yet to own any pack that cannot be blown away in a tornado or hurricane. That said, the pack has a cinch cord at the top of the large compartment, duffle bag, and then a well secured cap. Blowing rain finds its way into everything and dry stuff sacks are a good alternative to finding a waterproof pack. There is a "waterproof" pocket on the pack to hold money or the such, about the size of a wallet. If you plan to travel in inclement weather, then a waterproof pack cover may work for you but, they do get pulled off by tree branches and blow away when you are not looking. Use stuff sacks for the critical cargo and let the pack breath so the wet tent or ground cloth can dry during the days hike.
