How is the size measured?

A: 
Well if your talking about the length of the post, its from the top of the post to the bottom of the notch which has the spring loaded stud that locks your post into the floor seat hole. ( 8 inches tall and up ) but note the over all length of the post will be about 1/2 inch longer than the size stated, that extra half inch goes into the seat floor hole.

Height from bottom to top. So a fixed 7" would raise the seat seven inches and so on...

JUST PURCHASED A NEW FIXED PEDESTAL BUT I AM UNABLE TO LOCATE A PUSH TO RELEASE BUTTON TO KEEP THE PEDESTAL FROM BLOWING OUT WHILE TRAILERING. THE STORE OR REPAIR SHOP DIDN'T HAVE ONE OR KNOW HOW TO OBTAIN ONE. I WOULD FEEL BETTER IF I CAN INSTALL A PUSH TO RELEASE BUTTON ON THIS PEDESTAL. THANKS IN ADVANCE.
