Trigger unit is separate from the three legs and and unlocks the three legs when depressed.

The triger is on top of the three (3) legs that extend below and level when the triger is squeezed

It's very easy.. You pull the trigger & the legs adjust to the terrain. Once you're comfortable with the set-up, you just release the trigger & everything is locked in place

When you pull the trigger it activates all the legs to move at the same time but you can change the angle of each leg simply by moving your hand forward, backward, left, or right so it will set up easily on uneven terrain.

just a few ounces. after hiking for a day, you'll have more concerns about dropping a few pounds yourself instead of the weight of this product
