Ensure your fly gets to the correct depth without sacrificing a quality presentation with Deep Soft Weight. Deep Soft Weight is a fish-friendly, non-lead reusable weight putty made with non-toxic tungsten that you simply place on your leader. On cold days you can keep the container close to your body so it can remain pliable. Be sure not to leave the Deep Soft Weight on your leader after you are through fishing as it can warm up and stain vests or other articles. Stays put best when placed over a knot.

A:
What you get is a slab of somewhat sticky, putty-like material. It feels like soft lead and is quite heavy for its size. You just pinch off a small piece and roll it around the line where you would normally pinch on a split shot. Taper it by rolling it between the fingers until it is wrapped around the line. When done fishing, put it back in the container.

It looks like black putty with a little bit of sparkle in it.

It is a gray paste substance that also seems a bit gritty. It is soft and pliable when warm but stiffens when cold. You take a small dab in your fingers and roll it over a leader knot into a small cylinder shape. Dip into the cold water of a trout stream before casting and it will firm up to hold in place. Warm it between your fingers to remove later.
