Casco Bay is home to more than 750 islands, and countless eelgrass beds, mussel bars and mud flats which provide habitat for invertebrates and the finfish that feed on them. Anglers enjoy the area’s relatively calm waters while fishing for Atlantic cod, bluefish, haddock, pollock, striped bass and winter flounder.

Kennebec (Damariscotta and Sheepscott Rivers)
The Kennebec, Sheepscot and Damariscotta Rivers all flow into a large estuary that connects with other tidal rivers, creating salt marshes and islands which nurture juvenile fish. These waters offer some top-notch fishing opportunities Atlantic cod, bluefish, haddock, pollock, striped bass and winter flounder.

Muscongus Bay (Damariscotta River to Weskeag Bay)
Boasting some of the best angling opportunities Maine has to offer, this region is abundant with a variety of sportfish. Anglers will find striped bass around eelgrass-covered, shallow coves, while those seeking Atlantic mackerel should head to harbors and open water. Other possibilities include Atlantic cod, bluefin tuna, bluefish and pollock.

Penobscot Bay
Enclosed by forested granite cliffs, Penobscot Bay is dominated by the lobster trade. While hardworking lobstermen are focused on their bread and butter, nearby anglers work coastal waters in search of striped bass, Atlantic cod, Atlantic mackerel, bluefish and pollock.
