Gear up for your escape with our Workender event Friday April 24 from 6pm-8pm and Saturday April 25 from Noon to 5pm. We will be conducting a variety of instructional demonstrations and product discussions every hour of the event. Topics include Cooking Down and Dirty (focusing on backcountry cooking sets and freeze dried foods), Slumber By Number (tips and tricks for staying warm and comfortable), Pack Right (explaining how to pack for optimal comfort and distribution, Beat The Bugs (practices for staying bite free), Pick Out and Get Out (kayak shapes and sizes) and Streamline Your Kayak (rigging your kayak for fishing).

Then April 25th from 6pm-7pm we are holding a 20/20 social hour. This is your chance to pledge our 20/20 challenge and enter to win the Workender Prize Package! The 20/20 Challenge invites you to pledge 20 hours or 20 miles of outdoor activities from May 1 – July 26, 2015. The social hour gives you the chance to talk with other taking the challenge and hear from organizations in the area about when, where and how to get involved with camping, kayaking, hiking and more. Paladin Women's Conceal Carry Course

Saturday April 25, 2015 from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

This course will focus on the nuances of women carrying a concealed handgun. The topics include basic firearm safety, handgun and ammunition components, practical holster and apparel selection, handgun selection, children and firearms, reciprocity and recognition, situational awareness, and the use of deadly force. The course also satisfies one of the requirements for the Virginia Concealed Carry Handgun Permit. Training course costs $60. You can register online or by phone.

Paladin Firearms Non-Resident Utah Concealed Firearm Permit Course

Sunday April 26, 2015 from 1:00 PM - 7:00 PM


Paladin Firearms Training, LLC offers a single session six hour non-resident Utah Concealed Firearm Permit Course (CFP). Utah's non-resident CFP is either reciprocated or recognized in thirty-five states. The Utah CFP course is instructed by a certified Utah state Concealed Firearm Instructor. The Utah CFP is especially beneficial to those who travel for a living and people who desire to expand their state carry concealed handgun coverage throughout the United States. All non-resident applicants are required to first possess a valid carry concealed permit legally issued in their home state which reciprocates or recognized the Utah Concealed Firearm Permit. By completing this course you receive an instructor's s...tamped application and a finger print card that meets Utah's requirements to obtain the non-resident CFP in accordance with the Utah Code Ann. 53-5-704 (1)(a). You will also receive a Paladin Firearms Training, LLC certificate of completion. You have up to one year upon completion of the CFP course to submit your application. In addition, you must provide a 2" x 2" passport quality photograph of yourself taken within the last six months as well as a photocopy of your driver's license or state issued identification card. The next step in the process is to submit all of the above mentioned items to the Bureau of Criminal Identification of Utah along with a $51.00 processing fee. The permit process takes approximately sixty days after the fee is processed.Training course costs $85. You can register online or by phone.

Legal Heat Conceal Carry Class

Legal Heat will be holding a Conceal Carry Class in our conservation room on May 10, 2015 from 9 AM - 2 PM.This one class qualifies you to obtain the Virginia, Utah, and Arizona concealed firearm permits. A student who completes this course will be qualified to carry in up to 36 states! The class will be taught by an attorney and will emphasize state and federal laws regarding the use of deadly force, carry and transport of a firearm, and much more!  There is a $75.00 fee for the class. Learn the basics of boating safety. Class is from 9am to 4:30pm. Customers may come as early as 9am. All children under the age of 17 must be accompanied by an adult. Both adult and child must be registered for the class. No exceptions. Lunch will be 30 minutes long. The exact time of lunch is at the discretion of the instructor. Any additional breaks are also at the discretion of the instructor.

If you are an experienced boater and have a good working knowledge of the navigation rules, required safety equipment, and specific Virginia & Federal boating laws and regulations, you may opt to take an 80 question challenge exam. You will have a maximum of 3 hours to complete the exam (1pm-3pm). The exam is closed book, no reference material is allowed in the examination room. The Virginia Watercraft Owners Guide should be used as study material along with other boating education material. Successful completion of this exam meets the Virginia law concerning boating education and a DGIF certification card will be issued at the conclusion of the exam attesting to this.

You must register on line at: www.dgif.virginia.gov/boating/education/requirement under Challenge Exam or telephone at (804) 367 - 0768 or by e-mail to Stacey.brown@dgif.virginia.gov or the Regional Coordinator at pnaco98@cox.net at least 3 days prior to the exam date. Walk-Ins will not be allowed.
