The events kick off Sunday August 3rd with our National Pros leading Hunting University. Seann Mann (World Goose Calling Champion of Champions ) is going to share tips about “Putting Geese in Your Decoys – Set Ups and Techniques for Consistent Success” at 2 PM. Followed by Dave Kaprocki (Flambeau Pro Hunting Staff) at 3 PM presenting information on “Predator/Varmint Hunting.”  *Pro appearances and classes are subject to change.
 

The second weekend, August 9 &10, is Next Generation Weekend. The kids will have a blast participating in our FREE kids activities from Noon – 5PM each day. We are bringing back the BB range where kids can shoot a real BB gun! Plus, we are offering a FREE photo download, a craft from Noon – 4 PM, and a Fox Drawstring Bag for the first 100 kids to complete a punch card each day.  But that’s not all, kids can learn about “Fall in the Outdoors,” at one of our workshops at 2 PM and 4PM each day.

 

In addition to the kid’s activities, we are offering a NEW! Women’s Hunting Workshop on August 9th at 3PM. Women attending the workshop can enter for their chance to win a RedHead folding knife or pair of Oculus Binoculars (Must be 18 years of age to enter, Winner will be announced at the end of the workshop). Paladin Carry Concealed Handgun Training Course

This basic firearms safety course is a six hour single session course designed to teach firearms safety and satifies the requirements for a carry concealed handgun permit in the commonwealth of Virginia per code 18.2-308. This course does not require students to shoot and qualify with a firearm to earn the Basic Firear...ms Safety Course certificate. Upon completion of the BFSC the student will receive the training certificate of completion which does not have an expiration date. Virginia's CCHP is either reciprocated or recognized in 24 states. Training course costs $55. You can register online or by phone.

Ascend Power User Contest

Bass Pro Shops is looking for the next Ascend Power User (individual who “lives” the Ascend lifestyle and/or brand. One who is outdoorsy and active).



Customers 21 and older who wish to participate should submit a 2 minute or less video of themselves “living the lifestyle,” between April 1, 2014 and July 31, 2014. At the end of the submission period, Bass Pro judges will determine the Top 5 and post them online for public viewing and voting.



Bass Pro Shops is looking for creativity, originality, and how well the entry represents the Ascend brand image. The winner gets a $2,000 Ascend shopping spree, a spot on the Ascend-Pro Staff, and a Bass Pro Shops discount card for a year. Plus, anyone who enters gets a FREE Ascend Water Bottle.



Instructions for entry can be found in camping next to the Ascend kayaks, there is a sign with a tear off sheet that the customer can take with them to remember the entry website. Boating Safety Education Challenge Exam

If you are an experienced boater and have a good working knowledge of the navigation rules, required safety equipment, and specific Virginia & Federal boating laws and regulations, you may opt to take an 80 question challenge exam. You will have a maximum of 3 hours to complete the exam (1pm-4pm). The exam is closed bo...ok, no reference material is allowed in the examination room. The Virginia Watercraft Owners Guide should be used as study material along with other boating education material. Successful completion of this exam meets the Virginia law concerning boating education and a DGIF certification card will be issued at the conclusion of the exam attesting to this.



You must register on line at: www.dgif.virginia.gov/boating/education/requirement under Challenge Exam or telephone at (804) 367 - 0768 or by e-mail to Stacey.brown@dgif.virginia.gov or the Regional Coordinator at pnaco98@cox.net at least 3 days prior to the exam date. Walk-Ins will not be allowed.

Both adult and child must be registered for the class. No exceptions. Lunch will be 30 minutes long. The exact time of lunch is at the discretion of the instructor. Any additional breaks are also at the discretion of the instructor.

RESERVATIONS REQUIRED. SEATS ARE LIMITED.
