Current Highlights

  • Member of the RedHead Pro Hunting Team
  • Host of Rackmasters
  • Host of Winchester Legends
  • Host of King of Bucks by Bass Pro Shops
  • Gore Tex Outdoor Adventures
  • Member of the Archery Hall of Fame
  • Teaching my grandkids what I've learned and spending time with them
  • Home: Troy, PA
  • Family: Sheila (wife); David Foulkrod (son), Natashia Blasz (daughter), Jessica Kovac (daughter)
  • Hobbies: Hunting — I'm a stickler for planning, I spend more time planning and preparing for the hunt than the hunt itself. I like to take things and make them better, improve the product.
  • Rifle/Bow Preference: Both — I like to use anything that bangs or twangs and is legal for hunting.

Career Highlights

  • Biggest Kill: I've shot all nine species of the whitetail, but an elephant would be the biggest
  • Greatest Hunting Achievement: I've gone from staying in igloos hunting polar bears to hunting jaguars in Paraguay. I've hunted on seven continents and have taken every large game I have ever wanted.
  • Favorite Hunting Moment: My first deer — I was actually hunting with my mother; my grandson's first turkey — we got a double together

Deer Tips

One tip on all game would be noise pollution is worse than scent pollution. I can learn to play the wind, but not unnatural noises. It's how you lead the road, no Velcro, metallic noises, anything that would alert a mature deer.

My Hunting Info

  • Years Been Hunting: I can't remember not hunting! I'm 64 now and I started following my Dad around when I was old enough to walk.
  • Professional Affiliations: Started with Golden Eagle Archery and current days sponsors, Winchester Firearms, Winchester Ammo, Bass Pro Shops, Swarovski, Ram Trucks — that's just a few
  • Hunting Strength(s):
    • Understanding game and knowing what they are going to do before they know what they are going to do.
    • Understanding wind current
    • It doesn't make a difference what I use; I try to practice and perfect on all weapons — not just one.
  • Favorite Technique: Spot and Stalk
  • Favorite Game to Hunt: Wild Sheep
  • Favorite Hunting Gear: It would all depend on the particular game I am hunting. Hunting gear is about knowing what game I'm going to hunt and helping design and test products from Bass Pro Shops/RedHead
  • Favorite Places to Hunt: Whitetail — it would be Kansas, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania for the Grandkids, any place that puts me into an adventure hunt
  • Favorite Season to Hunt: Probably fall, when the foliage changes, there is something that kicks in with change in the season
  • Favorite Time to Hunt: This also changes with the season — early season, I'm hunting at dusk. If it's pre-rut, I'm going to hunt mid-day. I like the cooler weather than I do the hot weather. It changes with the season you know, can't pin it down to one specific thing.
  • Favorite Way to Hunt: Spot and Stalk
  • Favorite Gear: Something that would help me spend the night in the woods — firestarter, headnet — makes a difference on how you pack, can you spend the night in the woods.

Some Things I Never Leave Home Without

Never leave home without telling my immediate family that I love them because there is always a possibility I may not return — especially on some of the adventure stuff that I do.
