The Denham Springs Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World is the anchor of a 75-acre development at I-12 and Range Avenue. The 163,000 square-foot outdoors store, equivalent in size to 3 and 1/2 football fields, also features an expansive boat showroom and the uniquely designed 11,430 square-foot Islamorada Fish Company restaurant capable of seating 300 people.
The Denham Springs Bass Pro Shops has won numerous awards for the architecture and design of the store. When visiting our store, plan on staying several hours as there is a lot to see here including Fred, the alligator snapping terrapin that is approximately 125 to 150 years old. We also have Donnie, a rescued Raccoon that calls our store his home. Donnie was rescued as a baby and was never able to learn to care for himself. Donnie is one of the tools that we use in educating hundreds of children who come to our store on field trips each year. It is not unusual to find any of the ducks or turtles that live in our indoor pond to be found roaming in the store.
Bass Pro Shops of Denham Springs is very active in our community. The store with its employees are involved with many of the conservation groups in our state, holding up the passion that founder Johnny Morris has for the outdoors and the importance of preserving our natural resources for future generations. We are involved with many groups and schools in the area to continue educating the next generation of the importance of enjoying our great outdoors.
Many weekends there are activities for the kids in our store with lots of fun for everyone. Come visit us, find Fred and Donnie and all the exciting displays that we have in our awesome store. We also offer free Outdoor Skills Workshops for adults, kids and families. To follow events “like” us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/bpsdenhamsprings

The amazing traveling Bead Town art exhibit has been breaking attendance records everywhere it stops! And it's coming to Denham Springs!
Artist Stephan Wanger employs a unique mosaic art form which uses recycled Mardi Gras beads individually hand-cut, molded and arranged to depict beautiful scenes of Louisiana - from the 42-foot panoramic view of New Orleans with 1.5 million beads, to the vast white cotton fields of north Louisiana, to beignets and boiled crawfish in Cajun country.
Meet Wanger at the grand opening of his impressive exhibit in Old City Hall, May 3, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Mattie Street will be closed for the evening for a fun street party that includes live music by Rosie and the Swingin' Riveters, refreshments and a local artists' show-and-sale. Livingston Parish artists can exhibit at no charge, and all types of media are eligible.
The exhibit will run through June 16, and during the run, workshops will be held by Wanger to teach his bead art method to adults and children age 8 and up. Sessions to help the artist create three new pieces depicting Livingston Parish are free. Other classes where participants create and take home their own beaded mask or picture frame are $20 to cover materials and refreshments.
People are asked to bring their Mardi Gras beads to the classes or to Old City Hall at any time and donate them so they can be turned into more beautiful art. Old City Hall is open seven days a week.
See “Bead Town Denham Springs” on Facebook for photos of the dazzling art and more information about classes. Call Old City Hall at 225-667-7512 to register for classes or for an artist’s booth space on opening night.
Bead Town is presented by the Denham Springs Main Street Commission and the City of Denham Springs.
