RedHead Stalker Lite 2 Camo Clothing

Spring turkey, summer squirrel and early dove shoots are all occasions calling for Stalker Lite II camo.

Afternoon highs have been reaching the mid 80s here in southern Missouri going into the final week of the 2010 spring turkey season, and that has made me especially appreciative of the RedHead Stalker Lite II Camo purchase I made earlier this year. Spring hunts here in Missouri have been far too warm for comfort recently wearing my typical cotton fatigues. Couple cotton with heavy humidity and mercury topping the 80 degree mark, and closing ground between me and that gobbler quickly becomes one uncomfortable, sweaty task. Something had to give.

You might be familiar with a previous version of RedHead's Stalker Lite. It was great for its time, don't get me wrong, but let's face it — materials have come a long way in the past few years. The original Stalker Lite was made with lightweight 6 oz. cotton, but cotton nonetheless.

Stalker Lite II is true active hunting wear. It's made of ultra-light, four-way stretch, moisture-wicking polyester fabric.  This material won't restrict your movement — great when hiking up and down these Ozark Mountains — and won't get too warm when the sun comes up. Even more important, this material is extremely quiet and won't give you away when you're within earshot of game, so you'll have one less excuse this season if you get busted by game.

Not only does Stalker Lite II perform on muggy spring turkey hunts, it has also proven its worth on dove shoots and squirrel hunts, and as a mid-layer during deer season. This stuff literally feels like you're wearing next to nothing, which is exactly what I want on warm-weather hunts. But it also layers well, making it useful from early spring through mid fall.

With BDU-style cargo pockets and two large button-flap back pockets, the pants have plenty of storage capacity. With a full cut, they offer room to add a base layer underneath (I've used EnduraSkin and like the combination) when the weather starts getting cooler. The elastic waist band provides a custom fit and allows for unrestricted movement.

I went with the long-sleeve t-shirt for the total-concealment factor. The cut is relaxed, but not baggy. I like the relaxed fit because I can comfortably add an EnduraSkin base layer when needed.  There are also short-sleeve and long-sleeve button-up options available. In fact, Bass Pro has even put out a women specific version RedHead Stalker Lite II, so there's a little something for everyone in this lineup.

If you're planning some warm-weather hunts this year, don't head out in cotton. Try out the new Stalker Lite II camo and leave the sweating to your hunting partner.
