Tips for finding crappie in the fall. |

In the fall, crappie head to the shallows armed with hefty appetites. Much as they do during their spring spawn, they migrate to secondary bays and creeks, but they are not searching for spawning habitat. Forage is what brings the fish to shallow brush piles, stump rows, and standing timber in the fall.
A comfort zone across the lake enlarges as cool temperatures send shad meandering. Shad travel on journeys feeding on zoo plankton and photo plankton and the crappies are in hot pursuit, even on a cool morning.
In most reservoirs 5' to 10' will produce. It's a jig fisherman's paradise. Color choices, like in all seasons, will depend on water conditions.
