If you fly fish for trout in almost any tailwater, this little bug is your friend. Best conditions occur during mid morning to early afternoon on cloudy or drizzly days in spring and fall. Keep your eyes open for weedy runs and riffles. Fly sizes most commonly run from 18 to 22. Because these mayflies are helpless in the stage between nymph and adult as they emerge, they are easy prey for trout. The riseform will be subtle and deliberate. Bugs accumulate in back eddies where trout congregate to eat their fill in unhurried leisure. |
