Catch and release is the right thing to do with some species of fish, but it is sure a hard choice to make when you catch that fish of a lifetime. Thanks to today's taxidermists, though, you can have your trophy on the wall and in the water at the same time.

Here's what you can do to have both. First of all, always have a good camera with you. Make sure it has a good flash and use it even on bright sunny days to take several pictures at different angles of the fish.

Handle the fish as little as possible but make sure you have an accurate scale to weigh your fish and a tape measure to determine the length and girth. Record all this and get the fish back in the water as quickly as possible.

Before you choose a taxidermist, check out his work and ask for names and phone numbers of others they have done work for. If he's good, you'll have a hard time telling the difference between real and fake.
