Preparation
Larry Whiteley
The next time you're getting ready for a day on the water, make a list of everything you need.
Larry Whiteley When preparing for any fishing trip, establishing a routine will help you make sure that every little detail is taken care of in advance. The next time you're getting ready for a day on the water, make a list of everything you need to do before you slide your boat in the water or put on your waders. Put all of those tasks in the order you want to get them done. Turn that into a checklist, and follow it until you're doing all of those things by instinct. When it becomes second nature to check things like the air pressure in your trailer tires, your waders for leaks, and inventory your tackle box, you'll be well on your way to having the most fun-and the least worries-every time you go out.

Larry Whiteley is host of the award winning Outdoor World Radio.
