Springfield, MO-As kids, Christmas was usually the one big day you waited for all year long. It took forever to arrive and when it did, you were so excited you could hardly go to sleep on Christmas Eve. Would you get the new bike you wanted? Was there enough snow for the reindeer? Had you really been good enough for a visit from Santa?
Remember when Christmas meant home and family and everything magical to a kid? When Christmas came from merry carolers on a street corner, mugs of hot cocoa with steam rising into the frosty air, hometown parades and kids with noses pressed to windows of toy stores. Remember when Christmas came from a feeling?
As adults we know that time passes too quickly and some things are important enough to hold onto. While many retailers are cutting back on the holidays this year, we at Bass Pro Shops, still believe in Christmas and would like to invite you to return to that special time of your life.
People need Christmas--maybe even more so this year. Just like vacations, holidays are necessary stress-relievers. They are special times set aside to honor family traditions, pass them on to our kids and remember what is important in our lives.
To help you, Bass Pro Shops has a whole holiday season planned with a very special Christmas event and a magical Christmas village called Santa's Wonderland. From elves to moving trains, to arcades and carolers, to fun activities and free hot chocolate and cookies--even Santa will approve!
"Christmas is a magical time of year for all of us," stated Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris. "We want to invite our customers to bring the kids and grandkids and make memories that last a lifetime at our very special Santa's Wonderland."
Kick off the season with the arrival of Santa Sunday, November 9th during the special Christmas Preview Night from 5 pm to 8 pm. Santa arrives at all 52 Bass Pro Shops store locations at 5:30 pm via sleigh, carriage, boat and even fire truck. Accompanied by carolers, kids can help Santa light up the store and big Christmas tree and unveil Santa's Wonderland.
Consisting of 3,500 to 6,000 square feet, Santa's Wonderland is comprised of elves, old-time model trains, remote control cars, a Red Ryder(r) laser arcade, a Nerf(r) soft gun range and activity tables where you can write a letter to Santa, color and do fun crafts every weekend. Of course Santa will be in residence there throughout the season and you can get your picture made with him--free!
Always a family tradition, now you can get a free 4x6 photo with Santa from 5pm to 9pm Monday through Friday, Saturdays 10am to 9pm and Sundays Noon to 5pm with extended hours beginning November 27th. Photo and gift packages will also be available at great prices. And, you won't even have to wait very long. If the line is long, grab a Bass Pass and your appointment with Santa is set.
Remember the fun crafts and holiday ornaments you made as a child? Introduce your child to these time-honored traditions every weekend at Bass Pro Shops Santa's Wonderland from 12 to 5 pm. Each Saturday and Sunday beginning November 15th through December 21st, you can enjoy a different craft like turning pine cones into ornaments, making hand-made paper chains, creating Santas out of fishing bobbers, constructing fun reindeer hats, changing candy canes into reindeer and even decorating cookies for Santa.
And, since probably the most important part of Christmas is the lesson of giving Bass Pro Shops can help you there too. Beginning Sunday, November 9th, bring a new toy to donate to the Bass Pro Shops Toys for the Kids drive. Toys will be collected in the grand entrance of each store and then distributed to local children's charities to help bring a little Christmas magic and a smile to a kid's face this holiday season.
No one is giving more during this Christmas season than our troops either serving or returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan. You can show your support and appreciation to the troops by making a donation at all Bass Pro Shops store registers to the USO's Operation Care Package. Sign a personal greeting to include to show them how much you care.
Monies collected will be used to purchase items such as calling cards, disposable cameras, toiletries, sunscreen and more. You can help bring a touch of home to our service men and women this Christmas.
You will also be able to make a donation to the AmVets who serve the needs of our military personnel coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Bass Pro Shops also has big plans for Black Friday. They will be holding their 2nd annual Great Turkey Campout Thanksgiving Day starting at 5:00 pm. Customers are invited to bring their tents and campout all night on the parking lot so they can be one of the first in line to enter the store the next morning.
From 5 pm - 8 pm they will be serving hot chocolate, coffee, and smores around the fire pits. Every half hour they will be drawing for gift cards and customers can also enter for a chance to win a $1,000 Bass Pro Shops gift card and a $5,000 Shell gas card.
This year, remember the simpler, more traditional Christmases you grew up with and re-live the child-like innocence of the wonder and awe that is Christmas. Give to help others celebrate the season too. We guarantee you'll get a good feeling....a real Christmas feeling.
