Staff Accountant - Income Tax Sportsman's Park Center-Springfield, MO

This position reports to the Income Tax Manager. The position will work with the Income Tax Manager in filing all of the company’s income tax returns (Bass Pro, TM, personal companies) and preparing all income tax workpapers. This position will also work with the filing of all personal property tax returns.


Income Tax: The income tax staff will work with all income tax filings. Bass Pro files Corporation, Partnership, Limited Liability Company, S-Corporation, and Foundation income tax returns. Bass Pro files in 30 plus states and also files multiple returns in Canada. The responsibilities of the income tax staff will include preparing income tax workpapers, using our income tax software to prepare returns, filing tax extensions, and calculating quarterly estimated tax payments and tax distributions. In addition, this position will assist with income tax research and planning, tracking of tax credits, and work on any income tax audits (IRS and state). The income staff will also work with our outside tax consultants (such as PWC) in any tax filing.

Franchise & Miscellaneous Taxes: This position will have responsibility for filing our various Franchise tax returns and other miscellaneous tax returns as applicable (i.e. business tax, unclaimed property). The income tax staff will also have responsibility over certain monthly account reconciliations and journal entries.

Charitable Contributions: The Tax Staff will also be responsible for tracking all of the company’s charitable contributions. This includes identify them, tracking them in a database, and making sure we get acknowledgement letters from our charities.

Property Tax: The Tax Staff will also assist in filing all Personal Property tax return. We have over 150 property tax returns to file annually (and growing) and this position will help prepare and file these returns. This position may also help verify and pay property tax bills at the end of the year.


•Strong accounting skills. Must have an accounting degree with good grades.

•Accounting experience: Prefer someone with two years of accounting experience, preferably in the income tax area. Although a strong college graduate in accting would be considered.

•CPA license is not required, but certainly a plus.

•Bass Pro accounting experience a plus.

•Strong P.C. skills. Both spreadsheet and word processing skills required. Comfortable doing research on the internet.

•Extremely organized. This is a critical component of the income tax work.

•Manage several different tasks at once. Track multiple deadlines.

    The Director of Transportation reports to the VP of Supply Chain and is responsible for planning and managing all aspects of transportation including domestic, international and small parcel freight.
