Society in general is a lot more health-conscious than ever before.  We've pinpointed about everything that is bad for us (which is also everything that either tastes good, or is fun to do.)

One of the things that has been determined is repetitive casting with one arm can possibly cause tennis elbow, and other injuries.  These ailments don't just apply to professional anglers though; they also apply to weekend anglers.  But are you going to quit fishing because it might be "bad" for your arm?  I didn't think so.

The possibility of these medical problems is the reason that Bass Pro Shops created the XPS Weight Balance System.  It's a pretty simple idea - if you move the balance point of the rod to the grip area by placing weights on the butt of the rod, then the amount of force needed to propel a crankbait is greatly reduced.

The Balancer is an extremely inexpensive and easy way to modify your rod.  The system includes a removable buttcap that fits over your rods butt section.  It comes with three weights to balance your rod out, but you can also use quarters if you need more weight.

Balancing your rod out doesn't just relieve stress on your arm, it also creates a more sensitive rod.  The "zero" weight created by a balanced rod allows you to feel every single little nibble.

If you are serious about angling, check one of these inexpensive systems out.  Your arm will thank you.
