There are plastic baits, and then there are Zoom® baits. The difference is undeniable. For those who lay it on the line every time out, there can be no other choice. Every Zoom soft plastic bait is wholly realistic, super-soft to the touch (for the extra action needed to pull that reluctant money fish) and salt-impregnated to hold even the most tentative bite.
Big Bait for Big Bass
This is a nice chunky bait for big bass. I haven't used this bait much, but I tied it on during my last outing and got a nice 5lb LMB. Caught him with the black/sapphire.

Between last year and this year a have bought over 12 to 18 packs of Brush Hogs, The main colors I use have been watermelon-red,green pumpkin and watermelon candy. And there is several techniques that you can use.Texas Rigged, Carolina Rigged, And on the larger Shakey Head Rigs. These things just plain catch bass.As long as bass keep hitting Brush Hogs I will keep on buying them.

The brush hog works almost every time I use it and delivers at least 2 fish per brush hog. you can throw it by weeds or even out in the open water and most likely you will hit a good spotted, large, stripe, white or smallmouth bass.

The colors that have come through for me most often are the green to brown colors. especially in clear water. I have noticed that naturally colored lures get more hits and catch more bass than brightly colored lures.
In my opinion and many others the best soft plastic is a brush hog The femail and male bass are very aggressive during this time peroid and will eat anything that comes around their young. But the best by far is the brush hog.
I have used the brush hog for years and have experimented with a lot of hooks. The best fit, weight, and size for the hog is the Owner 4/0 offset hook black chrome #5301-141 (item#446155) With these hooks I catch'em and they stay hooked!
I fish in San Diego, CA. Most of these lakes are fished 7 days a week. The bush hog has been the only solid bait for Bass. I texas rig with a 1/4 oz bullet weight and a 1/0 hook. If you slowly twitch the hog on the bottom and I mean slow, moving the tip of your rod maybe 6 inches you have a better chance of getting a strike.
I rig the bait Texas or Carolina with a 5/0 ewg hook. If the fish are really moving i fish it fast with a 1/4 - 1/2oz sinker and fish heavy cover or shallow or u can fish it with no weight at all and kinda swim it, Ive had good luck that way too. I really like to tear the body part of the bait off and but the tail on a jig and it makes a deadly combo in the fall. Very easy bait to fish and very productive.
You can fish this bait the same as plastic worms. My favorite is Carolina rigging. Rigging it Texas style is my second favorite. By Texas rigging I like to slowly swim it across the bottom. These two methods have put a many fish in my boat. But don't be hesitant to try different things. Bass seem to key in on the same presentations so try different presentations.Good Luck
jig this bait just like you would a jig. cast or pitch it up next to cover allow it to sink to bottom .jig it a couple of times and allow to sink to bottom again and just continue that all the way back in
canals and pond, where there is a sufficiant amout of grass. best bet throw it on the the bank or on the top of the grass and pop it off almost like a frog and the bass will tear it up. thats exactly wat i did will the bass shown in the image.
I use this bait for Pads. It is a different and deadly tactic that fish don't the bass don't see much. Rig with a 4/0 weightless hook, Texas and drag it across the top until you reach a good opening then just let it fall and HANG ON! Won multiple tournaments like this. Tight lines and good luck.
If you are fishing in a lake, I would throw it down the bank into the shallows. You can also find where there are logs, stumps, or brush pillings where bass generally hang out. To be completely honest anywhere is good to throw this bait. Just be sure it's texas rigged, that it gets to the bottom, and that you reel it slow. just in case you don't know how to texas rig a lure, here is how. Run your hook down the center of the head of the bait until you get to where the hook starts to turn. Now push the barb of your hook out of the plastic and run the head of the bait up to the eye of the hook. Right before you run the hook back through the bait, lift up the butt of the bait to where the middle of it is bowed just a little bit above the barb of your hook and then start to run it through the middle. Finally, push your hook through and stop just before you can feel the hook exiting the plastic. Now when you are fishing this bait and you feel that little tug from a bass at the end of your line, be sure that you stick your rod tip forward giving the fish a little slack. When you see the line start to move away, count to 3 and set the hook. Believe me this is a monster bass lure. Learn to use it and you'll tear them up.
