Rated 2 out of 5 by good for perch jerking This reel is excellent for perch jerking around the camp or in canals. It is also good for young children just starting out. January 6, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Use It Right These reels are perfect for everyone and even pros. Those who are not happy with the 33 are the ones using braided line and line heavier than 8 pound test. You have to put light line on these reels people!!! 4 pound test will cast a mile! October 4, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent choice for the money Zebco 33 reels have been a part of my fishing experience for the last 35 years. You can't beat the reel for durability, price and reliabilty. I will always keep Zebco 33 reels as part of my Crappie fishing tackle. August 22, 2012

A:
If you use anything other than light mono on these reels or any other spin-cast reel, you are looking for trouble. 4-8 pound test mono max. You can do anything with these that you can do with conventional reels plus some.
