Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 85 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Omega reels me in! I must say that I'm truly impressed with this reel. I feel so much more in contact with the various lures I use and much of this increased sense of connectivity can be attributed to the continuous anti-reverse on the reel.I can now set the hook in a microsecond (give or take a few thousandths)and have no trouble regardless of the lunker's size due to the incredible triple cam, multi-disc drag system. This is the type of spincast that I've always dreamed to see made.I've never been too fond of baitcast or open faced reels and prefer the simplicity of a spincast. One neat trick you can do with the Omega is swiftly change out spools.I've found this to be to my liking and used it to lighten my line for those not so big but oh so tasty crappie.I just wanted to put my two cents in on the product and let people know it's a work of fishing genius. Rated 5 out of 5 by That's What I'm Talkin' About I've always been a spincast person. I started out with a Zebco back in the 50's. I have been searching for a good QUALITY spincast reel for a long time now since Garcia went to China. I purchased this reel and could not believe what I had found. This has to be the best quality and ease of use reel I've ever had in my hands. Zebco put a lot of engineering into this reel, all the way down to the low profile instead of it sticking up three inches in the air. I have purchased another one and will be replacing all my other other reels in the near future. This is by far the best spincast reel I have ever fished with in my life. Once this reel gets out it will take over the market for top quality spincast reels. March 20, 2006
Rated 5 out of 5 by zebco omega zo3 this is a exceptional reel and well worth every penny. It is simple to use smooth in operation and a valuable asset to the average person. As far as spincasting reels go I am very pleased with my purchase. January 25, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Ultimate spincast Remember your 1st rod & reel? You know the one... it had Snoopy on it?! This is the first QUALITY spincast I've ever seen & I've been waiting for a long time for someone to trot one out. Super smooth, positive hook setting. I will have several more & may try the Omega Pro. If you fish with a spincast do yourself a favor & get one of these. January 24, 2013

A:
all spin-cast reels have line twist problems if you don't use a swivel on the lure. if the lure spins on the retrieve, you have either a defective bait or your reeling TOO fast. also, putting the line on the reel the wrong way is a major error--

A:
most spincast reels are relatively tangle free so I am not sure why you are having problems with the line twisting. Putting line on a reel correctly will solve many problems. If line is put on the wrong way it will twist and won't cast right. Also, you might try a lighter line. Otherwise, you might return the reel or contact Zebco.

Would this reel hold up for larger freshwater fishing (e.g. catfish, walleye, etc.)? It looks like the spool doesn't hold a lot of line, so I'm wondering if this would be good for big-water lake fishing.

You are on the right track. This would not hold enough line in my opinion. If you want a spincast for larger fish go with the Zebco ProStaff 888. Rated for around 125 yards of 20lb test and could hold more of smaller line.

Yes it will handle Cats with no problems and I've fished walleyes all over MI. and Canada and have used these reels with NO Problems at all !If you want to use it for Big Water ,such as salmon,it wouldn't be a good choice because of it smaller line capacity .It wasn't designed for those fishing conditions.Any freshwater short of Musky,I'd recomend.

i would not use it for catfish, the reel is made to use 10lb mono or smaller and does not hold much extra line, i use it mostly for bass and works fine, but i would not trust it with a big fish.

Remove the cover. With one hand push and hold down the line release button while at the same time holding the crank handle. With your free hand, grasp the part of the reel on top of the spool (the one where the retreival pins are located) and turn counter clockwise to unscrew it. The spool can then be slipped off and changed.

I would stay with monofilament line only and no more than one or maybe two sizes larger in pound test than what it is rated for. As far as brand I have always had great luck with Stren Original Monofiliment.

I replaced the original 10LB test with Stren Original 10LB. The reel cast even better than before. The Stren Original does does not have have as much memory as the factory line.

This reel is heavy and just slightly on the bulky side with and ultralite rod it would be a bit cumbersome i believe.

Yes it is. The reel is not big, as far as big reels go, but it is too much reel for Bream anyway. All you need is a cheapo

The Z02 is not too small but it is a heavy reel for its size since it is a well made reel. For my ultra lite spincast fishing I use a Zebco ProStaff 2010 rated for 6lb test and I respool with 4lb line and go for the bream and use them for catfish bait. LOL.

Item number 38-330-120-00 would be fine for bream, but might want to take a look at our Wally Marshall MC40 Mini Spincast Reel. It is half the weight and price. Search for item number 38-350-688-00

My wife cannot use a baitcaster or a spinning reel and I would like her to have the benefit of braid line when fishing heavy cover or landing a large bass. It has been my experience that spincast reels do not handle braided line very well. I am thinking of either the 20 or 30 lb braid.

I would opt away from this for braided line. I tried 15lb power pro and had some problems with the braid slipping on the inside of the spool. I used the arbor tape provided also.

Probably not but you never know. If any spincast could handle braid it would be this reel because it is heavier and sturdier than any other spincast I have owned. The only thing I would really worry about is the braid damaging the spool.

i have not tried braided line with it, but i dont think it would work well especialy using that size line, it is made for monofilament 10lb test line, but if she can only use a spincast this is the reel to get.
