Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Major flaws The 4-pickup spool is a good if basically useless idea, but causes more problems with the poor design. Can't take the face off without pushing the button. Kept noticing flat spots on line, lost 2 fish and plug before I figured out it was the pickups on the reel pinching the line. Having 4 added to the problem. trimmed them down and works some better, but still does not work as smooth as the new Bass Pro one. Can't find the receipt or I would take it back. June 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Size 2! The smaller size of this is a really great niche product. I bought one for my 5 year old and one for my wife, who likes a spincast but also wants something lightweight. The drag feels nice, it casts and retrieves smoothly. We've only fished it a few times now, so I'll update if durability proves to be lacking. But for a small spincast reel, its really lovely. I may even get another for a little light travel set up. Very handy little reel. September 12, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great little reel I bought the Zebco Delta with 6lb. test to bluegill fish with grand kids. This reel is very smooth, easy to cast and retrieve, and performs very well. I mounted it on a Bass Pro Power Plus 5' light action rod. What a nice combination! I'm well pleased with this set up. June 17, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Retrive Retrieve was not smooth near the end. Thougt there was too much line on spool but after removing some it did not help. Returned to Bass pro with no hassle and upgraded to the Z02 model...no problems. October 26, 2011

A:
Zebco spincast reels will fish well with braided line. Be careful not to exceed the line weight specification by more than double what the reel is designed to handle. You will need to also make sure you put a mono backing on the spools first as they are not braid ready spools. If you use braid, make sure the rod is able to handle braid and the line weight you are using.

A:
For those baits described, you'll likely catch some bigger fish. I'd use no less than 10lb test. You will loose casting distance as you go heavier in diameter. Monofilament is best all around line for the baits you described, but I prefer Florocarbon for most all applications because of its lack of stretch and abrasion resistance, with the exception of top water fishing because Floro sinks. Not the best choice for top water baits unless they are using a constant retrieve. Thats why most fishermen (ladies) have more than one rod for multiple applications. 10lb test mono is probably your best all around choice.

I count 4 when I take it apart. I looked in their product catalog and it lists the bearings as 4+1. Not sure what they consider the 5th bearing.

A:
Most likely 2 because most of the zebco reels are 1,2,or3 bearings.

Most line twist occurs when you reel in against the outgoing drag. Never reel when the fish is taking line on the drag.

also does it have anti back crank? and you show 2 different gear ratios does this mean that these are 2 different reels?

A:
No back crank. This would tangle the line inside the spool housing. Go with the larger gear ratio as it retrieves more line per handle turn. for example 5:1 is faster than 4:3. The only time I would buy a reel with a 4:3 gear ratio is if all I fished was deep diving crank baits with big bills that have a lot of drag when you reel them in. In this case you would want the slower gears so that the bait doesnt roll over when you retrieve it.

Both Omegas and Deltas coming in 2 sizes, small (2) and medium (3). The small (2's) are for 6lb. line and have a 1:3.24 retreival ratio and the (3's) are for 10lb test and have a 1:2.9 ratio. All have anti-back crank. The Omega Pro only comes in the medium (3) size.
