Zebco 33 Bill Dance Combo Thanks Bass Pro for a great product! A tremendously BALANCED rod and reel combo. I am a Zebco and Bass pro Fan for Twenty years, this is one of the best buys I've seen ever ,anywhere and just in time for 4lb-to 5lb . smallmouth bass in upstate NY. My thanks to the staff for a great combo! July 12, 2011
supprised I was really supprise on the quaility, for the price... I use it off and on every time I fish now.. October 3, 2012
No Buy I bought this product about a month ago for my sons first fishing rod and got three good uses out of it before the reel BROKE when i caught one bream. Now the gears grind and it will not pull in line. The eyelets on the rod are also crooked. July 16, 2011
JUNK Bought this rod and reel combo, thought it was awesome at first, then the string gets caught up in the top bell, and you have to take the reel apart and unwind the string, cut it off, then restring it only for it to happen again, also when you cast it the line will get hung up in the reel and not cast very far. If I was Bill Dance I'd get my name off this item. September 21, 2013

Yes, you can. An easy process. Unloose the screw on the other side of reel from handle, pull handle out and re-insert to other side just like you took out of other.

Good for Bay fishing with stronger line, I reline with 20lb test upon arrival. I would say it would be great for a average 12 year old. If he/she is small and never cast before, the number eleven Zebco reel would be better with a ultra-light rod just for learning. When I was a kid just learning. I practiced in the yard with a heavy dummy lure (no hooks) and this got me ready to be around others.

Best rod and reel I can think of for a 12 year old, great for beginners and adults alike. Should do well under bay fishing conditions.

A:
I contacted Zebco and they stated you can go up to 14 lb. But I have found when I did, it became a little sluggish in retrieval. 12 lb. worked great.

You might be able to put heavier line on it, but if you're going to go with much heavier line (17-20 pound test or higher) it'd be better to go with the Zebco733, which is made to handle that heavier line.
