Got two of them for setting on the bank fishing for Catfish . A little worried abut the handle braking , but good by for the money.

FIrst off when you buy zebco reels you should take them apart and lube them with some good grease as they have none mostly or barely any lubrication I used lithium grease and it made the reel extra smooth and extra quiet ive been using it for worm fishing for about 3 years now with no problems , I also switch the cajun line out it seems to have insane memory and gets in the way. I will be buying another one of these if this one ever wears out since almost everything is metal I dont think it will be wearing out anytime soon I have caught 4 lb largemouth on this over and over with no issues just muscles them right in perfect for a finesse application that doesnt require speed like worm fishing, I mostly use mid range to hign end baitcasters but when you need to be quiet and stealthy or have limited arm casting space like bank fishing under trees I like this reel because it doesnt take too much effort to get the perfect cast with no worry of backlash and its perfect for casting super short distance or super accurate casts. Buy One The Quality Is There.

Reel seems durable enough, but it makes ton of noise when reeling. It is also very heavy. I'm going to return it because there's no reason for a reel that is new out of the box to be making that amount of noise.

I bought this reel for salt water fishing after watching a man fish with his. He caught a 54# Black Drum and landed it within seconds.
I set mine up exactly the same. I already had the 7' Shakespeare medium action Sturdy Stik rod like he was using.
1st time out (yesterday) with the setup. 2 Red Drum (22" & 25"), 1Speckle Trout (19") 2 Sheephead (12" & 15", 12 Sand Trout (10-12"), & 9 Golden Croaker (12"+).
Out of the bubble pack, the line would not come out of the reel. Took it apart and found the line wrapped up in the gears. No problems since then.
I will keep it washed down and lubed after each use since I use it in salt water, and it should out live me.
