good beginner rod,
December 21, 2010
from maryland
Advantages: Ease of use, Value for money, good for beginners
Disadvantages: Performance, Durability
"the rod is an okay rod; perfect for panfish and small bass or bullheads(type of catfish). reel is an okay one as well it comes with 10lb line and has a bait alert system to and a star drag system! only down side is its mostly plastic. if you are a beginner or looking for a gift for a beginner i highly recomend you buy the ugly stik combo package. it's got a good reel and an amazingly strong rod."

Good Rod but Terrible Reel,
August 18, 2010
from Ashburn, VA
Disadvantages: Performance, Durability, backlashes often
"I got this rod and reel combo in 2007 when I was new to fishing and I thought it would be a good combo for a starter. The rod is really strong and I can almost bend it into a U-shape without any cracking or breaking. But the reel was horrible. It would backlash so many times. And one day the reel just stopping reeling in line when I was fighting a 5 pound bass. I just threw away the reel and put a different one on it. Now it works way better."
