Rated 2 out of 5 by Great Rod while reel Stinks PLASTIC!!! Zebco makes some great reels like the micro. This reel has plastic cover, body, gears, poor line,etc.. The rod is great and is quite a steal. The gears break so easily. I wish Zebco didn't make 404's and only sold the rod seperately! November 11, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent Starter Rod & Reel I bourght 2 of these when my 7 year old was ready to go fishing. They work great fro bank fishing. We fish every week and never have a problem. They cast easily and handle 10 lb catfish and bass with no trouble. This not for a serious angler, but perfect for starter equipment and family outings. Worth every penny!! May 15, 2009
Rated 2 out of 5 by liked the 202 better I bought the 202 for my son and got the 404 for me thinking it would be tougher. The first time out, the line got completely jammed in the reel so I sat for 1/2 hr taking off the cover and respooling while my son had no problems with his 202. I returned it and got another hooping it was a fluke. The problem hasn't happened again yet, but the action doens't seem as smooth as the 202. Looks like sometimes less is more... February 29, 2008
Rated 3 out of 5 by I Actually Like The 202 Better I loved the Zebco 202 and I wanted to get this to see if it was even better, I was wrong. It brought in bigger fish easier than the 202, I didn't have to fight the pole. But it's durability is terrible, I dropped it once and the reel broke and it's parts went into the lake. I dropped me 202 countless times without problem. I didn't really like it, I recommend a 202 or a 33. January 26, 2008
