Zebco 404 Spincast Rod and Reel Combo
Great for the money
Mass production item so I can see where a few folks would have problems with them here & there, but I bought a 404 rod & reel back in 2000 & fished red & pink salmon in Kodiak, AK for 4 years with it. Caught a bunch of fish with it and now in 2013 the reel is still going strong. Been respooled a few times over the years with Zebco 20 lb. mono and have always been pleased with the performance. Rod damaged after being run over by an ATV in '03 so replaced it with a Rhino rod and have no complaints with the setup. I use it now for catfishing, bass, etc. and it's still performing well. Would definitely buy another.

I Actually Like The 202 Better
I loved the Zebco 202 and I wanted to get this to see if it was even better, I was wrong.
It brought in bigger fish easier than the 202, I didn't have to fight the pole.
But it's durability is terrible, I dropped it once and the reel broke and it's parts went into the lake. I dropped me 202 countless times without problem.
I didn't really like it, I recommend a 202 or a 33.

Excellent Starter Rod & Reel
I bourght 2 of these when my 7 year old was ready to go fishing. They work great fro bank fishing.
We fish every week and never have a problem. They cast easily and handle 10 lb catfish and bass with no trouble.
This not for a serious angler, but perfect for starter equipment and family outings. Worth every penny!!

Zebco 404 combo: (Rod & Reel)
I own 4. They are inexpensive, come pre-loaded with line and work well. I needed an alternate set of rods and reels. I have 4 grand-kids visiting. Over the years I have learned a couple of things.
1. When I am teaching them to fish; I can get very little fishing done myself. Still worth the effort, though.
2. It is nice to have some shorter poles and reliable reels that they can use; without a lengthy tutorial.
3.I also find that when some adult friends visit my home on a river; they also use the Zebcos and I don't have to worry about my personal gear. Dennis
