Spincasts are very comfortable for hours of exciting fishing. The only problem I have found is that they can have corrosion as I only fish in salt water.
Their other qualities far outweigh this one small problem.

Just started fishing again after many years and my better half was in need of a couple new poles and reels. So I thought I would buy her a pair of the Zebco 404's because as a child growing up they were some of the best our there. After I received these reels I restrung both of them with Berkley Trilene XT Extra Tough line and noticed a clicking while putting the new line on but thought it was nothing. The first day out I could hear the clicking coming from each one of the reels while my better half was retrieving the line and they don't have bait alert on them. Come to find out the noise is coming from the gear train and both of the reels make the same noise. A friend and I took the reels apart checked them over and added a little more quality grease to the gear train hoping to help decrease the noise but it didn't. I feel the one time Zebco quality has been lost. What was once a great product is now something I wouldn't recommend to anyone. I don't think the noise will hurt anything but when your used to the old Zebco's that never did this. It's just a shame to see what has become of a once quality product. To top off this situation one of the reels had a small nick in the stainless pick up pin which riddled the new line with checks. I hate to say that these will be my last purchase of Zebco reels
