Rated 4 out of 5 by good reel I enjoy using the trigger button type reels. it is not as good as the platinum 33 but it is still a good reel. May 1, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by good reels These were purchased as gifts but I own several of my own. Excellent crappie reels even though occasionally I find one with a short pickup pin. December 18, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Zebco 33 triggerspin For Me ,, these reels are the Best out there ..Throws plastics, as well as spinners.... 5 STAR RATING .... March 26, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by VERY GOOD REEL My buddy had a couple and I like his so I bought 2 reels for myself. The work really good for us catching slab crappie. I like then better than the small spincast reels. This is the only reel I will buy from now on for crappie fishing August 12, 2011

i would think it would work real well with a fly rod with light line. It would take light line in order to throw a fly.

While it is possible to use a Xebco on a fly rod, it is not recommended because a zebco is not designed to work with fly line whis appropriate for a fly rod,

It would work with 6-8 lb line, but it may be to bulky. I wouldn't recommend it for fly fishing.

You can unscrew the crank and turn it around so the handle is on either left or right side. I have mine set up for right handed.

you should be able to loosen the screw on the opposite side of the crank handle and pull the crank out to switch sides.

I caught hundreds of largemouth bass (known bigger than probably three pounds) on a zebco 11 trigger real last year. I bought a 33 to use this year for small bass and crappie. Their drag sometimes hangs wqith very large bass.

one should use high test strong line for catfish because they often weigh more than twenty poundsThis line is not compatable with an underpin reel .Duch a reel can usually handle the4-8 lb. line that is typically used for smal;mouth bass.

The 33 might be ok for small-mouth bass, but I'd get a Zebco 733 or 888 for catfish. Just my preference.

A:
Depending if it is left-handed or right-handed, loosen the through bolt on the opposite side of the handle with fingers or screwdriver. Turn bolt head a few turns counter-clockwise and that will allow room for the handle to pivot outward and downward to align in proper position. Remember to retighten the bolt head.

I would suggest a Voltaeus rod by Shimano. I use the VTS-60M2. Unifiber construction. Two piece 6' rod. Also available at Bass Pro Shops. Not necessarily the cheapest, but under $40 bucks!
