Offering the action of a crankbait, the profile of a jig and the flash of a spinnerbait, The Z-Man® Original ChatterBait® will have a profound impact on the way you fish. Designed to swim in an erratic motion that mimics wounded prey, the Original ChatterBait features a unique hex-shaped ChatterBlade® that pivots violently back and forth on the jig eyelet, producing enough vibration to let you feel every pulse. The ChatterBlade also serves as a weedguard to keep the hook from snagging on weeds or brush. The Original ChatterBait's EZ Skirt®, with super tough ElaZtech® Split-Tail TrailerZ™, creates an enticing, undulating action to provoke strikes. Perfect for muddy, stained water, the straight-tracking ChatterBait won't hydroplane on a fast retrieve and its depth is easily regulated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BassSlayerMI Muskie!!!!
Was using this for bass fishing with light tackle in my canoe when I landed a 43 inch Muskie (no steel leader, a small bass net, 10lbs test on a medium light action pole). I've had the most luck with the white and green ones. The muskie hit on the white one after I casted it out only two times!

I haven't been able to catch any fish with it unfortunately, but that's not the lure's fault. I just can't get to the fish.
I've had a few followers, and a frog bit into it once when I let it sit on top a lily pad.
The metal guard does a great job of keeping the hook from getting caught up in anything, and I haven't had any problems with weeds, branches or rocks.
The lure has good weight, good action and casts great. If I lost it, I would definitely purchase another.
I've bounced it off of a couple of rocks and pipes, and yanked it out of the only snag that I have gotten with it (which was my fault, not the lure's). It has held up great. Hook is still sharp, and the skirt is still looking new.
The lure sticks right to the top of the water with a medium retrieval speed, and makes a fair amount of noise while displacing a lot of water.

Yes they do! burn them along prime pike habitat and you will get bit, hard! I guess if you jigged them on a reef for walleye you would get some bighters an dit would be easy to know when you hit bottom in windy conditions:)
Chattbaits will work for Pike like a spinnerbait will, but I would avoid Z-Man. The hooks straighten out with bass and will surely not hold Pike or Walleye. Go with something more substancial like D&M or Revenge available at Tackle Warehouse.
There really is no wrong way - anyplace you'd think to throw a spinnerbait, rattle trap, crank bait or a jig-n-pig, is a good place to throw a chatterbait. They come through the weeds better than a spinnerbait, and have a vibration that rivals any rattletrap/crankbait. A lift and drop is deadly on Lake Champlain largemouth, in place of a jig-n-pig.
Just cast and retrieve. If the fish are kind of sluggish an occasional pause will help the curious followers and not takers. This bait is best in shallower water, but due to its erratic nature, will call fish up from some deeper water.
