Offering the action of a crankbait, the profile of a jig and the flash of a spinnerbait, The Z-Man® Original ChatterBait® will have a profound impact on the way you fish. Designed to swim in an erratic motion that mimics wounded prey, the Original ChatterBait features a unique hex-shaped ChatterBlade® that pivots violently back and forth on the jig eyelet, producing enough vibration to let you feel every pulse. The ChatterBlade also serves as a weedguard to keep the hook from snagging on weeds or brush. The Original ChatterBait's EZ Skirt®, with super tough ElaZtech® Split-Tail TrailerZ™, creates an enticing, undulating action to provoke strikes. Perfect for muddy, stained water, the straight-tracking ChatterBait won't hydroplane on a fast retrieve and its depth is easily regulated.

  • Swims in an erratic motion that mimics wounded prey
  • Hex-shaped ChatterBlade pivots back and forth
  • Generates vibration
  • Provokes strikes
Z-Man The Original ChatterBait 4.6 5 84 84
Solid bait I have used the white and the black/blue. The white has yet to get a strike, but the black/blue they fight over. I have had three bass follow it to the bank and I set the hook as I was pulling it out of the water. December 9, 2011
chatter This bait worked well. Maybe too well. I had everything hittng this bait even two drum. One over 6. It works well with the original trailer or anything else you may like. A must have for fall. October 15, 2013
It Catches FIsh I got this lure just because it intrigued me and it sure amazed me. I put on a wooly bug as a pork and with the 3rd cast I landed a 2 pounder that was a chunk. I am definitely buying more. May 30, 2011
Just ask Billy! My son, Billy, catches bass on these ALL the time...big ones!! Several 10 plus pounders and one 11.5....uses spinning tackle/braid...I can't fish them worth a darn but he sure can, October 22, 2010

Yes they do! burn them along prime pike habitat and you will get bit, hard! I guess if you jigged them on a reef for walleye you would get some bighters an dit would be easy to know when you hit bottom in windy conditions:)

I never have fished for pike or walleye, but I'm sure it would catch them because of it's action.

Chattbaits will work for Pike like a spinnerbait will, but I would avoid Z-Man. The hooks straighten out with bass and will surely not hold Pike or Walleye. Go with something more substancial like D&M or Revenge available at Tackle Warehouse.

Hi, thank you for your question. The Z-Man® The Original ChatterBait® will work for Pike or Walleye but it works great for Bass Fishing.

A:
There really is no wrong way - anyplace you'd think to throw a spinnerbait, rattle trap, crank bait or a jig-n-pig, is a good place to throw a chatterbait. They come through the weeds better than a spinnerbait, and have a vibration that rivals any rattletrap/crankbait. A lift and drop is deadly on Lake Champlain largemouth, in place of a jig-n-pig.

Just cast and retrieve. If the fish are kind of sluggish an occasional pause will help the curious followers and not takers. This bait is best in shallower water, but due to its erratic nature, will call fish up from some deeper water.

There is no wrong way to fish this awesome bait. You can jig it , burn it or a slow steady retrieve. I like to let it hit the bottom then rip it up about two feet.

Try chartruse and white with the gold blade. Gold shows up much better in the water you describe. Make sure you use the enclosed trailer (or another trailer of your choice.)

Fishing local ponds, white has been a good color for me. I throw the 3/8s first and if no luck move down to the smaller sizes. That almost always works.

For the muddy water, I've had success with the black and blue. It works well in the tes color too, but I've had more success with white in the tea colored waters.

I'd recommend a full size Zoom Super Fluke for the larger bait, and for the smaller 1/4oz bait I'd use a standard size Zoom Fluke.

I have used both and prefer the Z-man. The Z-man seems to have a better action on a slower retrieve.

chatterbait is better but the booyah has a hook that bends so that the bass cant throw the hook but the chatterbait almost never loses a fish anyway. I would suggest chatterbait over booyayh

You can work this bait better and can reach places you can't w/ the booyah

both work.. I think the ChatterBait is better because of these reasons:
I have had more success w/ the ChatterBait. The vibration of the chatterbait just seems to be better at triggering strikes. It has a better wiggle. The chatterbait is also more catch/ snag -free because of the shape of the blade and the jig head. And I feel like I can control the chatterbait better as well.
