Planer Boards from Yellow Bird™ are specifically designed for big game trolling. Planer Boards are molded from EPS foam to form a solid block of flotation and are internally ballasted, so the board always rides upright until the line is released. The planer board's large surface area increases buoyancy and allows the it to carry big crankbaits and lead core line up to 150' out to the side of the boat. Includes 2 Yellow Bird Osprey planer board releases.

Trouble with the new style releases Always wanted to try out planers since I saw them on multiple fishing shows. They both ran true, above water and away from the boat as designed, however mine came with the new releases, not the spring type pictured and several times using braid or mono, the releases came undone at all settings and had to reset the lines multiple times which is a pain while moving with multiple lines out. Using just two upfront and two other troll lines out the back was about all I could handle. I am not a fan of the new release, but have no experience with the spring type. We caught no fish on them, but fish on the lines without planers. July 20, 2011
Not Very Good Walleye Board a Better Board, The Release is Very Poor September 3, 2010
good product I have used these in the past and wanted to run additoinal lines. They do a very good job of getting heavier baits and lead core lines out ot the side. The only downside is the plunger style release that comes with it. It just doesn't hold with heavier baits, especially in rougher water. Beef up the release or include a Scotty pinch style release and you have a great fishing tool. August 31, 2010
