Put More Fish In The Boat.
The new Hi-Tek Series is super-tuned and sharply dresses to do just that. XCalibur® engineers gave 5 proven body styles a host of deadly fish catching upgrades. Want Realism? The flawless, high-sheen finishes jump to life with intricate etched detail. Red three-dimensional eyes enhance the attraction. And in the water, these baits are perfection in motion. Their shapes and swimming actions were optimized using computer-aided analysis and intense underwater observation. Each bait is equipped with premium hardware, including Tx3 Trebles with VMC® InLine Technology™.

Tx3 Trebles with VMC® InLine Technology™. Giving fishermen the edge on the water this season--three of them, in fact. The Tx3 hook point has three razor-sharp cutting edges for the ultimate in penetrating efficiency. The tips are forged, instead of chemically sharpened, which dramatically improves durability. They're then retouched with a coning process that serves double-duty to boost point integrity and smooth the cutting surfaces. Tx3 Trebles slice with minimal friction and stand up to serious abuse.

I call it 'Copper Magic' ;) There are two basic top water presentations, other than frogs. The chugger/popper and the cigar style ‘walk the dog’ bait. The XCalibur Zell Pop is a classic chugger/popperr-style bait. While the 'Yellow Magic' is the flagship popper bait, the Zell Pop performs equally well and is less than half the price. It has a very sturdy paint job, quality components and high-quality hooks. It comes in a variety of colors. It is probably best suited for monofilament line in the 10-14 LB range. It is paired well with a nice medium speed reel on a 6 & ½ or 7 foot rod with medium action and a fast or extra fast tip. The medium action and fast tip help to keep from jerking the bait out of the fish’s mouth. Use a sweeping lift as the hook-set, no TV style hook-set needed. We have experienced the best results with the copper and silver/ shad colors. It can be tied directly on to the wire loop or an ‘O’ ring may be used to enhance the action. TIP: To get the classic slurping/chug action, try fishing the lure with the rod tip down. Pull the bait along with pops of the rod, pulling it down from horizontal to the water. Use longer strokes when the bait is away from you, and shorten the strokes as the bait gets closer. Sometimes the bass want the bait to be worked aggressively and chugged at a steady pace. Other times, the want it to be popped a few times and then paused… Experiment until you establish a pattern. *Top water bass fishing is one of the most exciting and sought after techniques. Many anglers become frustrated as the top water bite can be elusive. There are some basics principles to keep in mind that should increase your chances of getting bit on a top-water bait. When to use: Use the bait when fish are active and feeding. Pre-spawn, fall and the dog days of summer can all offer a great window for top water fishing. During the pre-spawn and in the fall, fish are feeding in anticipation of the upcoming changes. In the summer the fish have their metabolism peeked and will feed several times per day. TIP: In the dog days of summer, keep an eye on the moon phase! Fish will feed at night using moon light when the water gets bath warm. During the waxing/waning crescent and new moon, there is very little light and this can force the bass to feed at dawn/dusk. Try the Zell Pop during these conditions for some exciting low light top water action. August 22, 2010
Popn Bass I have had great days with this top water. I have caught White bass, Large mouth, even some brimm have come up and hit this bait. I used it in the fall of 09 when water temps were 48-52 and the large mouth exploded on it. The white bass were in a electric plant here in Kansas La Cygne and they hit this hard, when the shad are jumpin hang on. You can work it in fast popin for the white bass and you can walk the dog with it. 17" and 4.5lbs was the biggest I got with it. Good luck Dougie D April 21, 2010
Great Popper I love topwater fishing and this is a great popper. Its "spits" easily, has a feathered treble on the back and the hooks are very sharp. Designed Zell Rowland who is known for his expertise in poppers and topwater fishing, its an excellent topwater bait and has become my new "go to" popper. Buy one its well worth the price, there are some more expensive but none better. June 16, 2009
