Greatly increased amount of backing that l could put on a reel. I have put it on my 10 & 12 wt reels and was glad when I unexpectedly hooked a large Mahi Mahi on the 10 wt. I plan. to put it on my 8 & 9 wt's next. i

You gain yards of spool capacity, there's little stretch, and it doesn't absorb water like dacron does. Plus it's very tough. Don't let complaints of it's loss of pigment bother you. it's a minor issue. Next time you have to replace the backing, load this up instead.

The backing is great... holds knots well and I can fit more than the recommended amounts on all of my reels. I've been taken into my backing a few times in the surf, and it has held up great. The only problem that I have had is that the yellow coating comes off on your hands and line guides. I don't know if it is a common problem for gel spun backing since I have only had braided in the past, but it's a little strange and it seems that it shouldn't happen.
