Worden's Famous Helin Flatfish is one of the most successful fishing lures ever developed! The secret is the Flatfish's perfect balance and buoyancy that enhances its one-of-a-kind swimming, wide-wobbling action - even on slow retrieves. The Flatfish is incredibly versatile and produces results no matter where you are fishing! Made in USA.
Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 24 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by excellent lure these flat fish lures are a great alternative to all the minnow and crank baits used today. the action is not something fish see these days and the color schemes are great. removing the rear hook and replcaing it with an offset hook in a soft body bait [grub, leech, or even a small ribbon tail worm] adds even more action. Rated 4 out of 5 by One of the easiest purchase online. The flatfish is my "go to" lure. It used to come with more instructions. One is to reel the lure in slowly; the slower the better. August 20, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Flatfish I like to use these in the smaller sizes for trout and panfish and medium sizes for bass. I cast them with light tackle and retrieve them very slowly. They work great when a slow presentation is required and they catch fish. July 28, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Helin Flatfish We used thes lures in Arizona fishing for Trout and they were just amazing. The two we use mostly were the Glow Black Tiger and Glitter Watermelon. But over the last 15 years we have caught Trout on all of them--the action of the lure is just tremendous. June 25, 2012

Depends on the amount of weight used.
Best to fish very, very slowly as in rowing.

depth depends on speed. keep in mind the lure is meant to be slow trolled or slow reeled . they stay shallow. you can add a sinker above the lure and fish it deep if you want

As far as the Flatfish is concerned I use yellow w/ black spots. A similar lure by Heddon is orange w/ black spots and white w/ red head. The pike in upstate N.Y.seem to love this. Can't be any help w/ Walleye though.

best size and color depends on several things.
1 fish species, 2 water color, 3 depth of fish, 4 local, natural food sources. Go look at where your fishing. How big are the fish?

A great lure but if you are casting off of a high pier the flatfish will want to come out of tye water unless you use weight. A 3 1/2" floating Rapala will cast further because it's a little more aerodynamic.

There isn't a complete ansure w/ this one. Your equipment especialy your line has allot to do w/ it. I want to mention a line but the guide lines might not let me. You need a proper pole and real it would seem to me 7 foot long medium heavy. If looking for strenth and distance I would go for a super line 12-14 Lb. test w/ a 8 Lb. test diameter. This would give you your distance and also the strenth of a good line if you get a big one on.

I guess it would depend on whether you are facing into the wind or not. The lenght and flexibilty of your rod are key. When using an 8' salmon rod with medium action and with a sensitive tip, I managed 20 yard casts with ease.
That was all the distant I needed to catch coho and silvers off the jetty onboard Great Lakes Naval Training Base.

the lures are not real heavy but they do fly well. distance depends on so many things such as rod stiffness, line weight and type, wind speed and direction. i would be willing to bet that unless your casting into the wind you should get a good long cast with a 3.25 inch lure
