Developed in the 1950's by Howard Worden, the Worden's® Rooster Tail® is one of the most productive lures ever invented. The action of the spinning blade in combination with the colorful, pulsating hackle tail makes the Rooster Tail irresistible to any gamefish. It's a lure that consistently catches fish. Fishermen across North America and abroad are using Rooster Tails successfully for trout, bass, perch, crappie, stripers, pike, steelhead, salmon and other gamefish.
Colorful, pulsating hackle tail
Ideal for trout, perch, bass, crappie, stripers and more
Worden's® Original Rooster Tail® - 1/16 oz.
This lure is ok. I've used the gray version and the white version, and they will work...sometimes. It's very inconsistent, some days the fish will smash them and other days it's just "chuck and pray". I've also noticed that the fish tend to short-strike it a LOT. They like to follow it and nip at the tail. I never had this problem with the Aglias, they tend to get very solid takes pretty consistently. But, the Aglias are expensive, so I'd say if you're willing to spend some extra money go with Aglia, if not go with Rooster Tails.

The product is not the issue
The product is fine. The statement on the packing slip that I am now reponsible to report the purchase to my State government for tax purposes will make me very unlikely to ever purchase from Bass Pro again. I realize this is not your problem but it will effect where I purchase products.

Great for stream trout
I use rooster tails all the time. Whenever I go trout fishing in streams or fast moving rivers the only thing I will use is rooster tails. I have never caught anything else on a rooster tail other than trout, that is why I say they are great for trout. My favorite color is the original black and white with a silver spinner. But like I said above, great for trout and I would definatly recomend this product as a gift to a friend.

these work great for trout but you need to find out what color they are in the mood for that day so get multiple colors

Usually a minnow-type color(like a shad for instance) or something very bright or chartreuse, but on rainy days when the sun isn't always visible, you should use a very shiny or flashy color to attract the fish when thy can't see dull or dark colors.
well best advice i can give u for bass is check the water visisbilty first, then the sky. if its a clear day and the waters clear day use something silver and blackish brown. if its cloudy and clear, or the waters tainted/ dirty, use the gold and chartreuse or gold and white. for bass also i use anywhere from 1/6 ounce to 1/4. my best color would be the chartreuse 1/4 ounce mylar. good luck
Slow to medium. Are you fishing in lakes or rivers? I always had trouble keeping the blades spinning even in current. Try using any with gold blades or go buy panther martin fly spinner no.2 gold/orange.
