Rated 5 out of 5 by Exceptional Just installed this on a 14' alum fishing boat, I've used many other seat mounting methods, but this one works the best. I chose to not use the optional retainer bracket, so this allows the seat to be removed to protect from weather, since this boat is outside all the time. This beats the plastic slide-on brackets hands down, I'll be buying a couple more for another Jon boat I'm so impressed with the first one. May 24, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great seat mount I have used several of these brackets over the years and I have found that they are the best seat mounts for attaching to tank style seats. I f you use a swivel under the seat it allows you move sideways to balance your weight, and rotate for the best driving position. There are a couple of modifications I carry out. The first is that I throw away the self tapping screws and use aluminium rivets, (most tank seats are light guage alloy) and the rivets never move. The second mod is that I place a 3mm by 50mm strip of alloy under the rear mount bracket overlapping either end which assists in engaging the grooves when mounting the seat. This also stops the seat from bottoming on the tank seat, it also stops any flexing of the tank seat. The front mount is sharp at both ends and can scratch your leg, I got an angle grinder and smoothed them over, then no problem. You may think I go to a little trouble to modify them but these seat mounts are worth it. October 6, 2011
Rated 1 out of 5 by seat bracket WD 70 This is poor made it has sharp edges on it that you should remove and the way it is made it will ware a groove in your boat It is hard to slide But after you install it you must use it to cover the holes you had to drill in your boat June 22, 2011

I also have rounded edges on my boat, I was concerned but when screwed down it is firm and doesn't budge. The screws do go into the radius but because they go in from top and side, it's a 90* cross directional mounting and holds quite nicely.

A:
You have a seat slide which attaches to the seat (or if you want a swivel the slide attaches to the swivel and the swivel attaches to the seat). On the front of the slide there is a groove which fits into similar female groove on the part that attaches to the leading edge of the tank seat, the back of the slide fits under the rear fitting to stop the seat tilting forward. There is absolutely no loose movement. To remove the seat you slide the seat sideways and disengage the seat from the parts that are attached to the tank seat, thats it

I just bought this bracket myself and it doesn't lock. However I don't believe it will move unless you want it to. The friction between the seat mounting plate and the L piece wont allow it to move unless you stand up and move it.
