Well worth the extra money. The holes in this trap are a little smaller than the other traps I used. It will catch smaller crappie minnows. The minnows don't seem to fall out of the holes half as much when you take it out of the water either also, the trap is silver. When I was up in Canada I was talking to an older fisherman about minnows and traps and he told me that minnows will swim out of a black trap. I kind of laughed to my self about that. So I did a little test about that when I got back. I guess I shouldn't of laughed. I caught more minnows in the silver traps. And one more thing, when I got it, it said made in the USA. Happy Trapping.

This Trap works great. They are smaller now than when I was young. But I used it and caught a lot of Minnies. Trouble is where I live there are a lot of thieves, and on the third morning when I went to collect my minnies the trap had been stolen.

i bought this trap because its just like the ones i had years ago and they catch alot of minnows and craw fish too sometimes,i am glad that they are back on the market even though bass pro is the only place i have found them,do not waste your time and money on vinyl coated traps, they do not catch minnows even if u paint them silver or burn the coating off of them,im not sure why they have the same design but i have caught more bait fish with this new one in the month i've owned than in a year of trying with the vinyl coated one

I bought one of these to use as both a minnow trap and a possibly a crayfish trap. Works fine as a minnow trap but the construction is somewhat weak and when I used it as a crayfish trap, it got hung up on some weeds and from just trying to pull it free ended up destroying the thing. The mesh opening broke loose of the ring that holds it in place due to the ring bending a little. Was expecting it to be a little heavier duty than it was I guess.
